Gunsmithing Scratching my head... WHAT THE ... ???

On the theme of WTF! Here is another that I found while drifting around on Utube. Got to be almost as funny, I think he wanted help "fixing" it.

    Rubbing alcohol shortage

De-natured alcohol, a little goes a long way. I also clean cases by putting them in an empty coffee container with hot water and a couple tablespoons of simple green, put the lid on and shake, let soak for a few minutes then rinse well with hot water and dry on low temp in oven.

    Issue with Forster FLS die?

Too much case lube on the shoulders.

    Labradar issues

That would seem like the thing to do at this point, good luck.

    Labradar issues

That is just a cheap reflex from Amazon, the little picatinney mount was from Evil Bay but I believe that there is a member of the Hide that sells them also. Cheap sight shouldn't be a problem doing what it's doing, and it's actually a pretty solid mounting. Sorry about the dust. (not really)

    Labradar issues

I set mine up with a cheap reflex red/green dot. co-witnessed with a large plastic speed square, makes aiming a piece of cake. I could of just used the speed square, but things move around sometimes and the dot sight makes it easy to check and adjust as necessary.

    Labradar issues

I had to send mine back. Tom at Labradar helped me diagnose it over the phone, problem was the unit had to be very close to the muzzle to trigger.(Hard of hearing, in Toms words). I paid to ship it, they paid to ship it back. It was fixed and returned the same day. I spoke to two men at Labradar...

Detailed magnified pictures of brass prep

Yes to both questions, also my Lapua, Winchester and Jag cases don't have anywhere near this kind of roughness and striation.

Shoulder bump jumping all over the place?!

" Another way to achieve uniform shoulder bump is to convert your press to use shell holders and to bottom out the die on the shell holder. Then use Redding competition shell holders to control the shoulder length. " And that is about the size of it, and use Imperial.

Detailed magnified pictures of brass prep

Roughness inside new case neck, you can see remains of Imperial dry lube after sizing. Common to this batch of cases.

Is the M Press any good?

Personally, I think that a Rock Chucker, even a well used one, would be a great improvement over a lee turret.

I'm an idiot and could use some help

Make note to yourself. Always check oven before heating, never know if wife or child left something in there. Can't help much on the annealing, sorry.

To lube or not to lube....when seating bullets

I have noticed different levels of effort in seating bullets ever since I started loading over 40 years ago, but over the last year or so I started lubing the bottom half of my bullets with Imperial graphite. That helped with evening out the felt seating force, but I still had more instances of...

    Bumping shoulder on loaded ammo

Some time back I had a case of PPU Match in 308 that was too long to chamber without really cranking on my bolt. Not wanting to use my rifle as a sizing die, I used my Redding type S with the guts out to bump the shoulders back about 4 thou. Worked like a champ, but I was pretty apprehensive...

Redding die problem, can I salvage the brass?

Not so sure about concentricity, but they sure help with consistent shoulder bump.
