    Max load questions.

We do it to be ABLE to realize the maximum potential of a given cartridge, doesn't mean we always load to the absolute max. As for myself, I want all the velocity I can get, consistent with all the accuracy I can get.

    Harrell's powder measure

I agree completely! My 40 year old Lyman 55 does better than that. I have the Lyman and a Hornady and a Chargemaster, I verify all settings with a 210, check weights are my friends.

Yeah,, assuming that you have an electric drill and a small, fine file, chuck the pilot in the drill and hit it with the file to knock a few thou off the pilot (while running the drill of course)...

    forster co ax press

I have no trouble with priming on my CO-AX, I just do it as a seperate step in the brass prep, without a die in place. As a matter of fact I really like the solid, positive feel of the CO-AX's priming system, it's quite easy to feel the primer seat, and very smooth.

Ammo issue in AIAX. Is the gun okay? Why did this happen?

Contact Winchester, send them the pictures and your lot #'s, They are getting used to it and may replace your primers or otherwise give you some relief. I always used Win. primers when they were "Staynless" but no more.

Ammo issue in AIAX. Is the gun okay? Why did this happen?

It is the very famous Winchester primer blowout, that seems to be becoming more and more "famouser" all the time. I don't know what to say about the bolt, except that if it was mine I'd be mighty pissed!

New 700LTR 308. Why such a long throat? How far to set the bullet? Pressure?

This is good advice. If you want to single load, you can seat way long (which will give you more case capacity, which usually lowers pressure, which usually means you can/need to increase powder charge) and you still may not find the lands, depending on bullet, and still have any bullet in the...

Case trimming with Hornady cam lock

Gee, do you think maybe if you hold your pilot in your electric drill and polish off a few thou it might work? Or call Hornady and ask them for a smaller pilot? If you trim without a pilot, you will just screw up your cases I have a cam lock also and it gives me very consistent results.
