Savage or Ruger? if that’s your question then I would say Ruger. Why? The battel quality is likely to be better (less tool marks) and I prefer the Ruger bolt design over Savage. My buddy had some issue with his bolt right away and it took a while to get resolved.- shoot4fun

I bought a RPR in 6 CM a few months ago. I really don't care for the butt of the chassis but it does shoot very well. A buddy has one of the Savage 110 versions in 338. He paid $1500 before the big run. Now they are running $2k+ and the RPR 338LM I have seen are right at $2,500. I'll be sitting...- shoot4fun

Doesn't he specify "factory production rifle"? I know Savage has several versions in 338LM but my favorite was the TRG42 from Sako. You also have the Ruger RPR in the mix now. I owned the TRG42 but sold it back during the chemo year of life. It was a comfortable platform with accuracy to spare...- shoot4fun

Broken extractor Ruger RPR 338 Lapua
I would shoot anything you load @j-huskey but the OP is shooting 93.5 with a 285 grain bullet. I am sure I have the numbers somewhere but can't remember what my charge of Retumbo was with the 300 Sierra back when I had a 338LM. Have the parts and about to be back in that game BTW.- shoot4fun

Broken extractor Ruger RPR 338 Lapua
Yes it is and no, not even the BR guys do neck only these days. Hodgdon says 89.0 with a 275 grain bullet in Norma brass. I would think your bolt would be stiff after neck sizing only with a stout load like yours. That and , possibly, the extra amount of pressure is causing the extractor...- shoot4fun

If Kobalt brand could be any better than what I bought I would not be able to use the extra. Besides, I love my local Ace Hardware and it's a 40 mile round trip to Lowe's. But then I do not have the EV lawnmower from any source; just the chainsaw and hedge trimmer.- shoot4fun

Although I cut mostly with my smaller 48" ZT made by Hustler there are times I need a walk-behind. Mine is a Honda self-propelled and it works very well. A little lighter than many out there and, most importantly for my preference , the set-propelled mechanism is rear drive. Maybe not a big deal...- shoot4fun
