What parts of the rifle lend themselves to accuracy?

Barrel, trigger, optics Barrel should be ported correctly. Trigger follow through is very important, more so on an AR than a bolt gun with a fast lock time. What I have never understood about people, they'll buy a $99 barrel then spend $400 on a handguard and $200 on a charge handle.

Gunsmithing Pacific Tool & Gauge SUCKS!!!

At least they didn't charge your card when you ordered and then again 4 months later when it shipped.

14.5 pinned and welded 308 AR...Any reason not to? And what barrel would you guys suggest?

Quickload can help suggest the most efficient powder for each bullet weight and barrel length but in the end it comes down to results in the field.

14.5 pinned and welded 308 AR...Any reason not to? And what barrel would you guys suggest?

When you get around to reloading I would suggest trying powders that are on the faster end of the burn rate if you want to get as much velocity as possible out of a short barrel.

White Oak barrels vs Faxon MATCH & Criterion

The bad thing is every barrel company that sells stainless barrels will say they are "match grade" and most people will believe it just because they are stainless. The truth is most stainless AR barrels are made just like most production grade 4140 or 4150 AR barrels and no more accurate...

White Oak barrels vs Faxon MATCH & Criterion

In the 90s there were really only 3 places you could buy high end AR barrels. CLE, WOA(CLE made their barrels back then) and Accuracy Speaks. Those were the top 3 high power barrel makers in the country for years. Derrick sold Accuracy Speaks. WOA and CLE can use any blanks, WOA house barrels...

White Oak barrels vs Faxon MATCH & Criterion

Compass Lake use to make WOAs barrels back in the 90s. I would say both run side by side now if similar blanks are used, then Criterion, Rainier, BA, Faxon, GM.

    6mm AR barrels

The 6mm ARC is a 243LBC with the shoulder pushed back .029". The guys at Hornady purchased one of my 6mm Predator barrels while they were making 50 sets of dies for me. They tested my 6mm Predator which is the same as a 243 LBC then shortened the case so they could load their 105gr bullet. If...

    Opening-Up Gas Port

If using a standard buffer and carbine spring try a .096, if you want to use an H or H2 or a stronger spring like a Springco or SSS you will need to try a .098 or .0995(#39). It really depends on the pressure your ammo creates. If using M193 or 855 it should be fine, if using 223 ammo you may...

    Opening-Up Gas Port

Drill bits come in wire sizes. That barrel should be a .093"(#42) now, .096(#41) is the next step up then .098(#40). Most hardware stores do not carry all sizes but you can order them from Mcmaster-carr.

    Faxon needs to dimple barrels

Some gas blocks have a .265" backspace and some have a .295". Off the shelf barrels must have a dimple at .295" so they will work with all gas blocks, leaving a gap behind some and not others. If you use a plastic handguard with a cap then you must use a GB with a .265" backspace.

    Vltor experiences/opinions

Start with a .081" then match it to the exact load and build. Different powders and bullet weights can affect the pressure at the port.

    PTR chambers

The 5.56 and 308 are fluted but never seen a 7.62x39
  14. Constructor

    Wylde chambering

Correct, the Wylde will give you better accuracy with no downsides. Anyone that says the 5.56 chamber is larger clearly cannot read chamber prints. The throat is not part of the chamber where the brass sits.

Max pressure on a Jp enhanced bolt for 6 arc?

That is just dishonest advertising, I believe most bolts are made from 9310 these days. I can tell you from machining them for 12 years they will not last 3-5 times longer like JP claims, lab tests showed they will withstand thrust apx 17% higher than a bolt made from Carpenter 158(mil spec)...

Max pressure on a Jp enhanced bolt for 6 arc?

Try it. Take the normal charge that creates apx 52000psithen start adding. An extra gr of powder may increase the charge 3-5000psi. Try it and measure the cases. . https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/grendel-like-belted-magnum-problem.7112215/ First, guy says he is using Hornady...

Max pressure on a Jp enhanced bolt for 6 arc?

Not only that but AR barrels have a larger chamfer at the breech, that coupled with the thin brass at the bottom will expand into the chamfer and the cases come out looking like a Grendel belted magnum.

To PCC or not to PCC...?

Curved Stribog mags with metal lips? Lingle made alum lowers that use AR15 grips, triggers and Scorpion mags they work well just don't use magpul Scorpion mags in them. ETA-The first straight Stribog mags made from plastic of some sort were cracking or breaking around the feed lips, the second...

To PCC or not to PCC...?

I purchased a A3 Stribog after shooting one at the range that belonged to a friend. I had read bad reviews about feeding but his ran FMJs fine. Mine is the same, shoots all FMJs and small hollow points but forget trying to shoot Gold Dots. The big hollow point catches the bottom of the feed...
