Gunsmithing Setting Head Space with an Empty case?

OK, Start with the diameter at the body/shoulder junction. Lay in a sphere that is known and smaller than that diameter. Now , do the Trig to determine the distance the center of the ball is below/ or above the body/shoulder line. Now you know from add/ subtract how far it is to the bolt face...

    Bartlein New Barrel Material 400MODBB

Certainly makes you think and ask if the brave ones who rode those rockets knew all that was at stake. A guy I know bought a broken glass stock from me years ago and said "hell, we sent people in space in pods made of dog hair and glue, I can fix it. Yikes!

    Bartlein New Barrel Material 400MODBB

For what its worth, I made molds for the space walk life support systems and molds for the nose and wings of the shuttle tiles. Engineers told me they are replaced after each flight at about 3million per shot. When we get a ceramic lined barrel, I would surely pay 10G for it. 98 % of the heat...

    Bartlein New Barrel Material 400MODBB

An infused ceramic matrix is next. It's being done on exposed optical surfaces now. Inside a barrel poses a lot of problems to overcome. Maybe another 5 or 10 years.

Monolithic solid projectiles in polygonal rifling

Actually, Flat Lines need more powder to get to velocity with the same weight pill because os reduced bearing surface. Similar to using moly.

Monolithic solid projectiles in polygonal rifling

What Theis said. Talk to David. He has a lot of experience with poly barrels. IIRC, he told me he saw higher velocities with Polys @ same charge amount than 4 groove or 5rs.

    37XC build

Most likely because 15 over ambient put you over what the brass will withstand. Work hardening at the bottom limits sizing via springback. The only way to try to reclaim that brass is push thru die to sweage the base diameter back to as new Sometimes that works, sometimes not Your extractor...

    37XC build

Jason Your brass is fatigued. Start over with new stuff I'm experimenting with the same condition with Barrett brass . Most of what I,m seeing is a lot of guys are running at the top or over to obtain velocities. Not good. Just made up 12 pieces RWS into 416 Barrett to see what shakes out...

    375 Mercenary

When you have a reamer drawing, there is no excuse for making brass that does not fit the chamber.

    Warren Tool Die

Let's see if I can clear up and better define the features and limitations of our dies First, there are three basic sizes in the series. The standard die uses .7500 diameter inserts and is limited to a 30-06 In length. The magnum series uses .8750 diameter inserts and is limited...

    Maggie’s SH Motorcycle Thread

Anyone here had a ride on the new Beemer B18? I'm looking for what it may be on long hauls. Seems a bit restrictive on peg and board options. Thanks.

Mac passed a couple years ago. John Whidden took on Barnard from Mac. I connected Barnard with Mac back in 95/96. First Barnard to the states was by me in 95. I have no idea whatever became of Mac's extensive collection of some really unique and interesting small bore rifles and such.
