МЦ-55 Zenit rifle by Yevgeny Dragunov

Cool rifle. Diopter sights take a bit of learning, and a lot of trial-and-error to become proficient. There are probably more than a few youtube videos in your native language on international air rifle or international small bore ( think Olympic competition) to get you on the right track on...

    New member from Socal

South OC also. I shoot with Santa Margarita Gun Club on MCB Camp Pendleton. Have to be a member if you're a civ and jump through some hoops but its OK. Membership also give you access to the base MCCS recreational range which goes out to 1K meters. Pala is another range, they host PRS matches...

Old eyes and iron sights......or I can't see shit anymore.

Been using corrective "prescription" shooting glasses for over 10 years. Pretty common in NRA High Power/CMP/ Palma/Intl smallbore circles. You need to get a little more focus on the front sight and the target will be slightly fuzzy, but visible. The common formula for M1 Garand/M14/Palma rifle...

    Barrel cleaning with alcohol

Wait, Wouldn't eliminating oil from the bore before the first shot eliminate the "cold bore" offset that usually happens (1.5 MOA sometimes) ? I'm assuming the oil in the bore from the last patch from cleaning is going to create more POI offset than a squeaky-clean bore. I may try it on the...

    First time reloading

Can't go wrong with the classic 168 or 175. The SMK 169 and 177 have shown great long-range results. Since you plan on single-loading/firing, the extra COAL of those projectiles won't be an issue if you won't be limited on keeping them at magazine length.

    First time reloading

I second @Maurygold suggestions, especially for a novice reloader. The copper solids are somewhat finicky and have a very narrow powder load "range".

    Diopter Focus

I'm in the same boat. It seems the thread @Im2bent references is concerning the parallax setting matching the image focus? Ideally we'd have image focus and parallax correction match, but if we can't get perfect reticle focus we may have "some" error, but not enough to mess things up too bad.

Many around here who took the jab now showing same.

"The scientific community has been left stunned after a group of leading scientists presented evidence..." Well, a study of ten people that had a vaccine, five who felt symptoms the first time (fatigue, soreness, etc) vs five that didn't feel symptoms post vaccine. Measured skin temp and...

How do you note your rifles current zero setting when storing a rifle?

I think some old crusty CMP Garand shooter wandered in here by accident? "Zeroed" sights mean it was clicked all the way down and needs to add 8 -12 "clicks" up for 100 yds...... We'll just be nice to the old boomer and offer some prune juice.

    Healt friendly brass polish

Healthiest choice is no polish-you don't need it. Just use walnut or corn cobb media in your vibratory cleaner.

    Keystone Pipeline Conspiracy Theories?

Hmmmmm, just maybe, could it be that Greenpeace was actually right about the potential it could rupture?

Ballistic calculators disagree with my actual elevation amounts - help please!

We do the same, and quit calibrating the targets due to the constant changing of POI/POA on the screen. With that said, shooters should be skeptical of using an E-target to establish a hard zero, unless it's their own target with confirmed calibration.

Ballistic calculators disagree with my actual elevation amounts - help please!

Yeah, if you had said in the first post that E-targets were being used, a few of us would have asked "did you calibrate the targets?" ShotMarker and Silver Mountain have to be calibrated, because the electronics will say "center" where it "thinks" is center. You would check your electronic...

    SS United States

Yeah, we have the Queen Mary as a museum in Long Beach Ca, not that impressed and it's cost the city and states tons of cash for "upgrades" in the past despite being well kept. So gotta say no....

    Xero failures

Eh, if it breaks inside it will be described as "dropped or abuse" which is probably written within the owner's manual under warranty denial.

    Very disappointed

Amazingly, FGMM 168 seems to shoot just as well at 600yds as 100, so it's not such a big deal.
