    Two sizing dies

Don't have the answer for you, but I'll say my Mighty Armory 308 Win. die works fine for brass that needs a .335" or more bushing. It will not give any useable neck tension on brass that uses a .333" or smaller bushing. I have a lot of the older, thin Winchester and Hornady brass that needs a...

Help Needed - Sticky Bolt CLOSE

Toss the rod into the freezer after the penetrating oil has sat for awhile, then try again.

Help Needed - Sticky Bolt CLOSE

O/P, do ^^this ^^, unscrew the sizing button. Take the pin out, screw the sizing button back onto the rod and re-install in the die. After you're done, reinstall the pin. You might have to lube the inside of the case necks since you're going back into a sized with the expanding button twice in...

Help Needed - Sticky Bolt CLOSE

Yes, just run them through the now properly adjusted F/L sizing die again, no big deal. You do need to re-lube the cases. Although, it seems you major issue was squishing the shoulders when you seated the bullets on an improperly adjusted seating die. You had two things going on. On a standard...

Help Needed - Sticky Bolt CLOSE

That is NOT the way to setup a sizing die. Even the RCBS instructions say to raise the ram, touch the die, lower the ram and then turn the die in another 1/4 turn. You need a little cam over to take the slop out of the presses linkage. I still say you're not bumping the shoulder back. Turn your...

Well, that ^^^ might be an issue. Time to to outside deburr the case mouth. Good catch.

Help Needed - Sticky Bolt CLOSE

O/P as stated by others, you probably didn't bump your case shoulders back enough. The Hornady tool works great to measure the shoulder to case base. As also said, it's not a headspace gauge, it is a comparator that does give you numbers to work with. As shown by nn8734 in his 2 photos, the...

    Lee Press challenges

With the die rings, once you get the die set for your proper bump, tighten the die lock ring screw lightly. Carefully loosen the die a tiny bit using a wrench on the die ring, just to get some wiggle room. Then tighten the die lock screw tight. You then always tighten the die into the press...

Groups hitting to the right. Trying to figure out what changed.

The O/P was banned three months ago for being a Fucktard.

    Chopping a die down?

I had this issue only once. Couldn't get the die to F/L bump enough. I contacted the die Mfg. Sent the die back and they skimmed .008" off the die bottom. The die worked perfectly after that. I felt better to send the die back rather than try the skimming myself. It only cost the shipping. As...

    Predictions......?

I predict you're going to get a lot of shit over wasting that 215M Unicorn and very coveted primer on a case that holds less than 50 grs. of powder.

    Carbon Ring, causes?

There's a few on e bay. If you need a 6MM only 1 left. The $9.50 postage is a bit stiff.

    Carbon Ring, causes?

I trimmed my 308 Win. cases for years, not letting them get to the dreaded 2.015". I finally bought the Sinclair chamber length gauge. Checked a Remington Custom Shop 40XBKS and a custom Hart barrel. I got 2.045" out of the Remington and 2.040" out of the Hart barrel. Checked and rechecked, I...

    Redding Master Hunter Dies

The Hunter 2 die sets are nice since they come with a Mic. seater. The F/L die is a standard die. At $200.00 a pop, you will be in @ $800.00 for the four die sets. I do use the Mic seater in my precision 308's. It is a nice seater. Since you already have the Hornady dies, I would just get the...

    Equipment you’ve bought… and hate

I had the same, shitty experience with the RCBS priming tool, the one that uses regular shell holders. I tossed it and stuck with an older Hornady priming tool I use for bulk 223 and I bought the newer Hornady for L/R priming. The newer one (6-7 years old) fucked up I called them, sent it back...

    30-338 win mag

I don't have a way to take a photo of my Sierra page. Hodgdon does have loading data for the 308 Norma Mag. (same as 30- 338) with the 200 Nosler Partition on their web site. Starting and max loads line up in my Sierra manual for the 200 Gr. Match King using your powders. Start low and work up.

    30-338 win mag

You need to list the powders you have. Most of the loading data is going to be old with mostly IMR powders being used. Sierra #5 has data, all with IMR powders. The two better powders for the 200 gr. bullets are IMR 4350 and IMR 4831.

Noticed that the AR10 bolt will re-headspace a cartridge.

I think you're getting too wrapped up over the chambering a cartridge over and over and getting shorter shoulder measurements. That's not an issue. The issue is for you to find the minimum datum measurement that will chamber in your Rifle. Just set your F/L die to -.003" from that and use that...

Noticed that the AR10 bolt will re-headspace a cartridge.

Some AR-10 rifles are way over gassed and ejected cases can show datum length farther out than the actual chamber. I have a GAP 10 that shows a fired datum of 1.634-35". There's no way that 308 chamber was headspaced to those numbers. I have a very early SR-25 that has a very tight chamber and...
