Pulling bullets with loaded and primed rounds

You don't have to spin the collet screw clockwise with a long pin lever to lock onto the bullet and then unscrew it. With the Hornady Cam lock, you pull down a lever to lock onto a bullet and lift the lever to unlock the collet. Just ergonomically better / quicker.

Pulling bullets with loaded and primed rounds

If you're looking to buy a collet puller, I much prefer the Hornady Cam Lock puller over the RCBS / Forester style collet pullers. Much easier to use. I have used both...

    3006 load 155gr

Unfortunately, IMR 4320 has been discontinued. It's a great 30/06 powder. If you want a replacement for it in the future take a look at AA4064. It used to be made in the Czech Republic, but is now made at the same General Dynamics plant at Valleyfield, Ontario Canada where the current IMR...

    3006 load 155gr

Try your other two powders since you're shooting a bolt gun. They may work well. It's worth a try. I would save that 4895 for the Garand.

I owned a couple of them back in the day. The range finding scale was called "Accu trac".

    Help bumping shoulder...strange results

I've used the "Skip's" shims for a number of years. They seem to work well. I bought s set of the Redding Competition shell holders and use them most of the time when I need to adjust bump. I use the Skip's shims now on my Giraud case trimmer if I wish to change the trim length without moving...

Hornady match dies and .308 win. Bushing size?

I used the size of the loaded neck and then minus .002", which would be a .336" bushing. .338" is what my GMM loaded neck measurement is and I bought the .336". You could go with the .337" if you like. I like having a little to work with in case you get a little variation in neck thickness. I...

Hornady match dies and .308 win. Bushing size?

A .338" bushing is pretty big. I use an assortment of bushings for the various brass varieties I have. .336", .335", .333" and .331". My .331" if for some old Winchester brass that is very thin / light. My .336" is for the thickest brass which is Federal GMM and some Military 7.62 NATO...

    Powder IN-STOCK thread

Miwall would show up to the Cow Palace Gun Shows often. They would have one big booth for ammo and a seperate booth for reloading components. I bought a lot of components from them over the years. They had very good prices. The Cow Palace Gun Shows are history now the San Francisco & San Mateo...

Forster case trimmer damaging my necks

I had a similar issue with my Forster Trimmer pilots being a bit tight. I used some 600 grit paper and took off about .001" and polished it up with some 800 grit. They worked much better after that. I've moved on the Giraud Trimmer for 5 Rifle cartridges, but I still have two of the Forster...

    H4895 New vs Old (1996 vs 2016)

I have a pound of 1990's H-4831 that is Australian made. It is gray like your old H-4895. I also have a pound of early 1990's H-4831 that is made in Scotland and it is also gray. Hodgdon changed their 4831 source from Scotland to Australian in the 1990's. As far as using old powder, I'm down...

    ISO Norma Brass .270 win

Starline has a good reputation. I took a look on the web for 270 brass. There doesn't seem to be a much in stock. Graf's only charges about $14.00 for shipping no matter how much. If you decide on the Starline, I wouldn't wait too long. You could also order some other stuff. I used them recently...

    ISO Norma Brass .270 win

If this is for a hunting Rifle, Graf's has Starline 270 Win.brass in stock right now for .60¢ ea. Your Norma, Nosler, Peterson brass will be double that, if you can find it. I've been reloading for the 270 Win since the mid 1970's and have used 3, 270 Rifles over the last 4 decades. I've used...

Beginner - need equipment recommendations and advice

A video here to get pro / cons : All you have to do is take out the indexing rod and you have a single stage. Use the single stage first and then move on when you get more experience in how everything works and the reloading process.

    Powder funnels

I bought the new Hornady set. Made very well. I had a bunch of Cabela's bucks to spend. My first time trying it was in 223 Rem. using IMR 3031. I got some bridging and gave up using it with that big stick powder. Too big of powder and too small of a neck. A $5.00 plastic funnel worked better...
