Ball head vs Geared tripod head for spotter

Gear drive is very exact, excellent for co-witness of a spotter and RF or using a reticle as above. The ball head is quicker but hard to lock down just the right spot for fine tuning. I use both and always wish I had the other one at the range. It will be a trade off speed v accuracy but...

Help! Buying advice needed re: RF and weather meter.

I like the sig 2400 BDX used with the Kestrel 5700. Fast results on both the RF and Kestrel. I started with a weather flow and phone based ballistic app and would never go back. If you go with just the 2400 ABS, you will still need to access wind data and the weather flow only has a faint...

    BadRock South Fork

Bad Rock South Fork initial report I finally got to take my new South Fork to the range and wanted to share my experience. I ordered the rifle on March 8th and it arrived about a month later. I got a 6.5 cm in black with the 20 moa rail. I already had some AICS pattern Accurate Mags so did...

    Leica 2400R info needed

I bought one from Doug and it is excellent. Good glass and hit 1380y 24" steel on the first try just holding it. Haven't tried anything further, that is it at my range. It does not have a tripod adapter fitting so you will need to get one for tripod use. I have a sig 2400 bdx and they seem...

    Truing up .22LR

22 lr is pretty much subsonic instantly, MV calibration doesn't help much. If you have a Kestrel here is the information that explains how to true for 22 lr transsonic distances. https://kestrelinstruments.com/mwdownloads/download/link/id/296/

    Kestrel Meters Ballistics Official Thread

If you are in the camp that most everyone posting on this knows more about ballistics than Brian Litz and his company Applied Ballistics, then yes do all the above. Otherwise set up the Kestrel per the instructions and go shoot. If you have consistent error, then look for your solution.

Rifle Scopes New scope, new mount.... maybe.

I have a PEPR 30-mm mount on a Savage 10 with a 20 MOA rail and you will be up off the stock quite a bit. With the PEPR and the rail that is a lot of extra height for your cheek weld. You may want to look for a lower mount or pull the rail and use rings. Also the cantilever works well with...

    Sig 2400ABS vs 2400BDX

The Weather flow meter is included but is a separate device you can hold, too, or attach to your earphone port on your phone and hold that. In either case it it two devices to get the Sig to show wind.

    Sig 2400ABS vs 2400BDX

The BDX provides range and angle, you still need to use the Kestrel to acquire DOF and wind. Also, the ABS has no wind capture like the Kestrel so you would need to determine and enter that.

    Round Count

If you have a Kestrel the new HUD will do round counts.
