Geissele Mk1 MRGG 6.5 Creedmoor initial impressions

Amazing, that was my exact load with Berger 140 Hybrids: 41.6 gr of RL16 at around 2.850". I played around with seating depth a couple of years ago, like you said, it didn't really seem to matter that much, there was a very big sweet spot. I still have a good supply of each, I should probably...

Geissele Mk1 MRGG 6.5 Creedmoor initial impressions

42.3 grains of H4350 with Berger 130 OTM Hybrids is my load, I haven't done a ton of seating depth testing, but around or just short of 2.780" COL works great for me, 2,750ish FPS with SD around 10 Same load shoots 2,900 FPS and pretty consistently in the .3's in my 24" AI

Geissele Mk1 MRGG 6.5 Creedmoor initial impressions

Yes, I use Magpul. I should probably buy some LaRue or KAC, I can only fit about 2.825" in pmags, and I don't like to go over 2.82" just to give a little cushion That said, Berger 130s absolutely hammer for me in my LMT when loaded to about 2.780" COL (2.160" BTO). I'm happy I tried them...

Geissele Mk1 MRGG 6.5 Creedmoor initial impressions

I think this is very promising. I'd like to get one of these rifles down the road, going to need to see a few more reports before I'm completely swayed, but I'm leaning in that direction. I agree with you that the AR-10 large frame platform is difficult to shoot accurately for groups. I only...

    MRGG- NOW IN STOCK

That is exactly what I was referring to. Not too many AR15 chrome lined barrels are capable of that level of precision. Everyone thinks they have one that is, until they shoot a 10-round group. Geissele chrome HBAR is legit I have a few AR rifles that shoot like that, but they are all cut...

    MRGG- NOW IN STOCK

You're right, at least with Geiselle. They seem to make very accurate barrels. I like their HBAR, especially after your review. I got a little spoiled with premium cut rifled Bartlein barrels, but it looks like G is approaching that level of performance while maintaining the durability of...

    MRGG- NOW IN STOCK

Please post some groups, some thoughts, a full report once you receive and get some trigger time. If these things hammer, especially with chrome lined barrel, I would strongly consider buying one.

How does it shoot? Please post a range report

    MRGG- NOW IN STOCK

At a similar price, I'm way more inclined to buy the Geiselle over a Knights, if for no other reason Geiselle is much better at availability and spare parts. I've never owned or even shot a Knights. I'd be much more inclined to if I knew I could easily obtain consumable parts, like barrels...

People ask me why I don't like Sig.......

It definitely started when Cohen took over. It has been pretty much a carbon copy of what he did at Kimber. When he became CEO, even with the Classic line of pistols, you could see the incremental QC issues on the increase, then it moved to inferior quality parts, design changes that decreased...

New rifle case for ATX with folder? Triad/AIM

I'm probably a cheap bastard when it comes to rifle cases and stuff like that, but I have a 42-in Savior brand that seems like a whole lot of case for the money. My AI AT-X fits nicely with room to spare. I'm very happy with it, probably made in china, but it seems much higher quality than the...

Geissele Super Duty or LMT MARS L-5.56 16in

It's almost definitely chrome lined. LMT does sell their own line of factory 5r cut rifled stainless steel barrels, but I have never seen one of these come on a small frame LMT factory rifle or upper. I've owned two of these (still own one), while they are more accurate than the chrome lined...

Geissele Super Duty or LMT MARS L-5.56 16in

You are going to be happy either way. My LMT is my favorite ar-15, my LMT 6.5 is my favorite ar-10. They make outstanding rifles.

Geissele Super Duty or LMT MARS L-5.56 16in

    Roof Top has a great deal on a 14.5" LMT, $1879 https://www.rooftopdefense.com/product/lmt-mars-l-14-5-5-56-mlr-mlok-pistol-rooftop-exclusive/

Geissele Super Duty or LMT MARS L-5.56 16in

I also have both, this is my exact experience. I love both rifles, they are both outstanding. The only drawback with LMT is the fact that their factory barrels don't tend to shoot as well as Geissele. I've only had 2 Geissele barrels, but I've had 5 factory LMT 5.56 barrels. 3 chrome lined and...

    Vortex 1-10

I have a Razor 1-10 and I really like it. It does really well out to 650 yards (as far as I've shot with the rifle it's on), and it's nearly as fast as a red dot up close. I think it's a great optic for an accurate 5.56 AR when weight is a consideration. Here's a write-up I did on an LMT AR...

    Accuracy International AT-X

I agree with this. AI is the easy button. It will give no BS trouble-free top tier performance for a very long time. Maybe I've been lucky, but with modest load development, my 3 AI barrels all shoot several bullets in the .3's consistently. Shoot the barrel out, give Euro or MH $1,000 and...

People ask me why I don't like Sig.......

I used to be the biggest Sig fanatic. I discovered their pistols more than 25 years ago, my older P226's and 228's were amazing. My earliest one even came with a test target signed by Hans Gruber or somebody. The level of pride that was taken to make arguably the finest combat handgun in the...

What's the difference between Black Hills 5.56x45mm NATO Ammo 77 Grain Open Tip Match and Black Hills MK262 MOD 1-C?

IMI switched to a non-Sierra 77 grain bullet for their IMI 77 grain Razorcore a while back as well

    Cleaning for Carbon

I think some of these modern high performance smaller caliber cartridges are more prone to carbon rings. That fact, combined with the fact that a lot of shooters seem to be adverse from using a bronze or brass brush. There is also now more awareness due to borescopes being in common usage...
