Naw ... here is my list of issues in the last two years ... nearly almost all optics had QC issues with dirt and specks inside the optic ... just like what the OP and others with Burris XTR3s are posting ...... no no ... I do not think these are isolated accidents ... Steiner and Burris CS has taken a deep dive for the worst in the last 2 years ... just saying ... QC has slipped for MANY good companies since COVID ... bottom line ... workers just don't care anymore to produce a quality outcome ... second ...- thehun

Key is matching receiver sets … quality barrel (seriously DO NOT cheap out on it … I cannot recommend Criterion highly enough with their M118LR barrels) … Repeat after me … adjustable gas block … adjustable gas block … adjustable gas block. Criterion M118LR barrels ... pick your length and go ... my 22" version runs ball ammo anywhere from 1.5-2MOA 5 shot group ... best with XM80C ...- thehun

It doesn't really matter with or without a can ... but getting your gun to run ok with a 8.5 oz buffer is just nuts ... and from experience ... you should never have to use that heavy of a buffer if your AR10 is properly gassed ... 308 Rifle Buffer or H2/H3 is the proper weight of buffer you...- thehun

Without (didn’t get my cans until after I sold my MWS) … you are using 8.5 Oz buffer … daaaaang … you must be so severely overgassed … yikes. Currently I have a 22” Criterion M118LR barrel … SLR adj gas block … standard weight .308 rifle length buffer setup and a YHM R2 … runs like a .223 once...- thehun

So ... heavy springs and heavy buffers will make you hate how the gun acts when it goes back into battery ... just saying ... I played this game with my LMT MWS 16" and 13.5" pinned setup ... I HATED how the gun felt when it settled ... a properly gassed AR10 will run a standard rifle buffer...- thehun

I've had so many FFP options ... I know its all the rage ... but man you either give up FOV or eyebox ... then there is the dreaded fish bowling effect at 1x ... for me ... there is none better than the Razor 1-6 ... or Kahles SFP ... Disagree. I’ve yet to find a LPVO in FFP that works well across all ranges. And I’ve tried a lot of them ... before people jump on the bandwagon ... but what about my drops ... be real ... you are either at 1X for close shots ... in between 2x-3x for intermediate 200-300m shots ... and full...- thehun

I can tell you. Something has changed within Steiner/Burris ops about a year or two ago and NOT for the better … Steiner had one of lasers for 2-3 months with no comms until I demanded a replacement which then took 4 weeks to process … Sad to see it … but this kind of stuff has become the norm...- thehun
