Appreciate all the info here by brains smarter than mine.
An FYI for anyone worried about doing these processes safely, many manufacturers will clean your can for a nominal fee. The cleaning process shouldn’t scare anyone away from can ownership or use.
Has anyone tried the 8.6 BLK in an at or aw ?
Thinking of getting a dedicated subsonic barrel for my AT-X.
I know you can load 308 to subsonic speeds, but it seems less than ideal with currently available powders.
The 300 BO would be ideal for me, but I doubt I will ever find a 223 bolt.
I am familiar with the vortex, but haven’t had good luck with their entry level optics on firearms with stout recoil, or anything else for that matter.
I will check out the leupold.
I like the 17 wsm, but would probably choose a 17 hornet or 17 hmr personally.
Unfortunately it seems like the wsm is in a downward spiral. I really hope it gets revived but wouldn’t count in it.
Any suggestions on locating a durable fixed 1x scope ? Something like the g7 Nightforce from a few years back would be ideal.
It looks like vortex briefly made a crossfire 1x but those are hard to find and I would really like something a bit more robust.
For inquiring minds, this is to comply...
Well under moa for 5 shots.
The 3 I hand loaded for easily made .5 moa.
I’m sorry to hear the quality issues recently. I really like the design of the action and mag system.
Are guys finding the 223 conversions to offer much advantage over moderate loads in a 22/6 br, dasher, etc ?
Nothing wrong with doing it just because, just curious about other practical ( ish ) reasons.
I am definitely hoping to get my hands on a spare bolt for a magnum conversion in the future.
I have tons of miles on mine, via sling, pack and atv. Hunted all over Wa, Or, ID and Mt.
I love it.
I run it on my hunting rifle all fall and winter and on my vudoo all spring and summer.
If it was mine, I should shorten the headspace a little and try again. Good chance that will solve the issue. You could also remove your extractor and chamber a “ dud “ round. See if it is snug in the chamber or loose.
