my first was an 8-32 NXS, sold it for my first FFP, the 4.5-30 XRS with an H59. the NXS was great for what it was...but it's definately dated now days.
The NX8 has always seemed like a "diet" NXS. Smaller, lighter, maybe decent for hunting but dogshit turrets.
I got a 7-35 on my 300 Norma Imp...
I've never had a need for a 338 can in the first place, so it's been YEARS since I even compared brands. I didn't realize it was a completely different model. Yes, obviously if there's that much of a volume difference it makes sense.
I already have a 6.5 and .30 Ultra 9. You'd have a hard time convincing me a 338 Ultra 9 will suppress it better than a .30 Ultra 9
Alas, I won't be adding one anyway
I figured if they aren't going to let me get any more...there's no use in saving or sparing it. Might as well shoot up the 6-7 lbs I have left.
300 Norma Mag 35 Imp and I think it's a 28" barrel. I didn't want to go 30 cause I might shoot this suppressed one day.
I'm still working up loads but...
Autism flaring up again. A couple minor tweaks and did some math.
If you see 31 Mil at 7x, you're gonna see roughly as follows.
24.8 mil at 14x
18.6 mil at 21x
12.4 mil at 28x
6.2 mil at 35x
Might be a little off of what other major mfgs are. Looks like most are between 5.8 and 5.9 at 35x or...
To be completely fair...as much as I prefer the tree...the TOR they have already is already really good. If they did a non-tree as a second option, I wouldn't be crushed.
But my personal preference would be a fresh tree style with varying line thickness as you zoom out.
Personally...I really want to see the multi line thickness.
.3
.5
.7 etc
I like the .3 for a 35-36 and especially the 40+ optics. I had a 5-42x March HighMaster and the main criticism I had was the reticle at the top
I can accept that, but it's a step toward "less is more".
Did you mean on the vert? Up/down. If so, you'll see the MilXT does as well. If you meant Horiz (side to side) you'll see they all do this to some degree. Mine and the Element Theos being the only ones that have .2 mil hash on one...
I agree with that, and I also believe that a computer generated overlay of a design over a picture also does not actually represent what the eyeball actually sees either. It's just an idea.
Alas, at 20x, I don't think any of the options I posted are difficult to "see through" and ignore...but...
I just have a hard time believing people that suggest this "Tree" reticle has too much information or its distracting or it covers up too much. GTFOOHWTBH
I will admit I like the tree for both reasons.
Now...we have seen a trend with a lot of the top shooters going to a more JTAC style reticle because....well...they are some of the top shooters.
I don't believe this optic is really designed for them.
I have two of the DNT 7-35s but I've still...
I did the entire 7-35x design with the intention of NRL/PRS type shooting, but lets not pretend there's not huge chunk of us that use a match grade optic and reticle and hunt with it anyway.
The 3-18x option I jsut did for giggles...that's not an option I would personally grab, so I was just...
