    Maggie’s Song of the day.

Here's a compilation of some of the songs from a theater performance of the musical "Hairspray" I played drums on back in 2011:

Best way to carry a kestrel for prs type competition

I have no problems with it. I shot a bunch of 1 and 2 day matches with it and it's never fallen out of the holder while I'm on the clock rolling around on the ground and on props shooting stages. Can't complain. Regarding your statements about building a pre and post-stage checklist, the most...

Best way to carry a kestrel for prs type competition

I keep mine in a SAP Kydex Kestrel holster on my HSGI belt. Kestel on the right, spare mag on the left. For your second question, I started lasing every target on every stage with my LRF connected to my Kestrel. That way I have the most current drop data available from my Kestrel just before I...

    Caldwell BiPods: Cheap and Functional?

I started out with a Caldwell 6-9 in 2013 when I started shooting. I used it for 3-4 years in a ton of matches before it finally bent I and I upgraded to a real Harris. For "just getting started" it's fine, but you'll eventually end up replacing it, so you might as well just save yourself...

    Walk Out Music Recs

You need something that immediately hits hard. Van Halen's Unchained.

    Moving target

*VERY ROUGH rule of thumb* for a starting point that I use for moving targets: 1.5 MILS lead for every 3 mph of target speed. I find that I have more success with the ambush method (pick a spot in front of the target and press the trigger as the target crosses the calculated lead) than the track...

    MDT chassis systems vs AICS

I ran an AICS for a few years in both my centerfire and Vudoo. Then I wanted to add ARCA to it. I got turned on to the MDT ACC from a friend, sold both of my AICS and bought two ACC's and haven't looked back. Night and day difference for competition for me.

    Shooting Music Mix

As much as I love music, and I always have music running in the background inside my head, I don't have enough brain cells to process music and all the required mental tasks when on the clock. If I did, I would listen to "Clubbed to Death (Kurayamino Mix)" from the Matrix soundtrack and use it...

    Favorite Rimfire Rifle?

Vudoo please. Thank you. I get it, they're expensive. My Vudoo cost as much as my centerfire. Buy once, cry once, move on to smacking steel with no worries about your equipment. That being said, there is something to be said for an Annie with a Fortner action.

How did you get drawn into the matches you attend regularly?

I play drums semi-professionally (I have a day job that pays the bills, so I don't have to teach drums in order to make ends meet from music only.) It got to a point where I was playing at 3 different churches, plus 3 or 4 different theater companies and I was working playing drums almost 150...

    Camping at matches

Did that this year for Parma. WAY better than a Motel 6 or Super 8. With 3 of us, it ended up costing LESS than the Super 8 would have cost me for four days. My wife made some cool food for us to take and cook up. It was The Shit.

Reasons people compete, and what grows the sport.

The Regional Series is an alternative to the 2-day format. 1 day matches.

    Local matches vs practice

I just based it on my current 6GT load. I'm usually right around 3K rounds a year centerfire and 4-5K rimfire with my Vudoo. Fishing just sounds boring as hell. Cast. Sit there doing nothing for hours. Reel in. Repeat.

    Local matches vs practice

I just ran those numbers. That's like $12K a year in reloading supplies and barrels alone to play at that level of commitment. Not counting match and range fees, gas, motels, food, etc.

    PRS kits

Gear: Rifle - Trued R700 action on an MDT-ACC, Hawk Hill 6mm 28" 1:7 barrel, ATS tuner, Little Bastard brake, Jewel trigger at 8 oz, Spuhr, Vortex Razor Gen 2 Atlas PSR bipod (going to upgrade to a double-pull Ckye-Pod for the additional flexibility it offers in setups), Leofoto LM364C tripod...

Reasons people compete, and what grows the sport.

FWIW, it did come in REALLY handy on Sunday as something happened on Saturday that caused the day to get shut down after lunch. We ended up shooting 12 or 13 stages on Sunday I think. Sunday was Hammer Down all day long for all of us to try to finish on time, and there wasn't time to mess...

Reasons people compete, and what grows the sport.

I shot a 2 day match where I was last up in my squad on the first stage. The match format was that you shoot your stage, then walk to the next stage and kind of get in line and it's one big conga line throughout the weekend. I knew almost everyone in my squad and was looking forward to hanging...

    Recoil comparison

Just go 6.5 CM running 140 ELDM's around 2800-2850, and shoot as much as you can afford to. Everything else will take care of itself
