    Night Vision Safran TAD

Idk, I’m actively talking to TNVC about it. At first I thought it was a nuc issue but it’s not. Wanted to give Safran a chance to weigh in before posting about it.

Night Vision Sig ECHO CV25 LWIR 640x512 Thermal Clip-On

The expensive military thermals will commonly have carefully designed rear lens assemblies that are fairly tolerant of misalignment between the day scope and the clip-on, and then they will spend extra time carefully calibrating the unit to ensure that what is seen through the day optic is...

Night Vision Sig ECHO CV25 LWIR 640x512 Thermal Clip-On

I would have a hard time believing it is factory digitally-collimated the way it expensive thermals are. I suspect it’s going to be a “pixel shift” zero process like every other inexpensive thermal clip-on.

What's the break in on a Benelli M4

My m4 pretty reliably cycles low-brass target loads. Can’t imagine any buckshot load being a problem.

Bout to pull the trigger (Voodoo S)

I just bought one. No regrets. They told me directly they don’t have any upgrades planned right now.

    Night Vision Safran TAD

High contrast mode, person ~50yd away. Seems pretty darn identical to Patrol.

    Night Vision Safran TAD

Roger that. I just sent you an email.

    Night Vision Safran TAD

Unfortunately they are not the same. Possibly the same threads but very different caps. See photo.

    Night Vision Safran TAD

It sounds like TAD has the same settings for environment etc so I suspect they are the same or very similar.

    Night Vision Safran TAD

That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. If you’re in a dark area, you don’t need the thermal onlay to be very bright at all, it will be highly visible even at a fairly low brightness setting. The TAD does have an automatic brightness setting because it has an ambient light sensor...

    Night Vision Safran TAD

I mean in many ways that's good, right? I'm glad Safran is willing to sell a smaller, lighter, 10um-upgraded ECOTI to civilians for like 40% off by stripping out the ATAK that 99% of people won't use. I'd much rather have this than a Jerry-C5, and my cervical spine agrees. I'm interested to hear...

    Night Vision Safran TAD

OK I just ran it for an hour or so. Thoughts in no particular order: 1. I never owned an ECOTI, just played with some for short periods in the past. To me it seems that the TAD has significantly fewer artifacts in Outline mode. Perhaps they have improved the software/AI that decides what should...

    Night Vision Safran TAD

Alright I have mine in hand and it definitely does have a "high contrast" mode. I've only tested it on my wife indoors so I'm not sure it will exactly duplicate patrol mode but it seems at least roughly similar. The Quick Start diagram even refers to it (probably accidentally) as Patrol Mode. On...

    Night Vision Excelitas Thermal Optics!

Dragon doesn’t appear to be intended for helmet mounting at all. They advertise it takes 10x or higher magnification so it must have a demag lens in the eyepiece. It is much more comparable to a TigIR than a Voodoo-S or SkeetIR.

    Spotters Spotter 60/45

Cadex also makes a decent Hensoldt cage, I am happy with mine.

Spotters Advice on dual mounted spotter/ RF binos

I did this for a while using a MUB Mod Dos platform. TBH it got old swapping back and forth after a while, so I went to a cage around the spotter with a WMLRF on it and have been much happier. Otherwise I would have upgraded to nice range finding binos like the new Vectronix ones. But yeah, if...

    “Budget Bino” for son

I have a set of cheaper Vortex 10x binos and they are solid.

    We're live!

I am having this same issue and it kills mobile notifications. Also it is lame af to have the "switch your subscription" promo only last a few days, not every paying subscriber checks the hide every day.

    Tripod Heights - Your Preferences

For spotting with my Hensoldt (straight eyepiece) I want a tripod that reaches my forehead height so I can stand naturally. For shooting I want a tripod that reaches my armpit height so I can shoot at a normal standing posture. Anything else I can just shorten the legs or widen the stance.

    Night Vision Safran TAD

Augee has confirmed to me more than once that the TAD has a new "High Contrast" mode which is identical to Patrol Mode. Everything I've read and heard indicates that the TAD is basically just a SWaP-improved ECOTI without ATAK. I pre-ordered last October so I should be receiving my unit in the...
