Why are AR15s so difficult to shoot for the average shooter?

I think it's a combination of factors. Cost and accessibility being one of them. A bargain bin AR can be had for what, like $400-500? That along with cheap plinking ammo and poor fundamentals, and I can easily see where the occasional shooting shoots about a dinner plate sized group at 100 yards.

Norma Golden Target Match 6.5CM 143gr

Haven’t shoot much of the 130s. 99% of what we shoot is the 143s.

Norma Golden Target Match 6.5CM 143gr

We shoot TONS of it in gasser's. The results are usually on par with ELDM, but about 30% less expensive and you don't have to deal with broken tips.

Calypso - Quantum - kestrel - HUD Bluetooth Hokey Pokey

As much as I hate to say it, I think Geoballistics does a good job at this. I think using GB was a huge downside to me with the Impact 4000, but I will say that did a few things right with the architecture.

    Suppressors 338 Lapua

Another vote for the 338 Ultra. It's surprisingly light for the size and makes a huge difference in noise.

    Accuracy International Picture Thread

I have shot my 338 with the ultra without ears a time or two just to see what it’s like. I do have very sensitive ears and it was surprisingly pleasant to shoot once, but I would absolutely not consider it hearing safe (anything above 87 db will permanently damage your hearing contrary to what...

Previous I had a 338 Ultra on the gun borrowed from my AXMC. It’s definitely louder because of the cane being maybe 2” shorter than the 338 Ultra, but the recoil is less. Especially with more gas going through the brake from the shorter barrel.

Calypso - Quantum - kestrel - HUD Bluetooth Hokey Pokey

I agree. While I can understand it’s tons of work to get there, I think it should be the end goal. For casual long range shooting, peeking at your phone seems reasonable, but I think in an ELR / PRS stage situation, having everything update in real time on your gun mounted HUD would be awesome.

Calypso - Quantum - kestrel - HUD Bluetooth Hokey Pokey

I have the pro version and do build out sectors. Unfortunately I haven’t found a way to transfer them to the HUD without having to go through the kestrel first.

Calypso - Quantum - kestrel - HUD Bluetooth Hokey Pokey

I recently switched to pairing a Calypso Mini AB to Quantum as a means to more accurately predict and manage wind calls for ELR and PRS type matches. It seems like a Bluetooth nightmare to: 1. Pair the calypso to quantum to get your wind and update your range card (sector) 2. Disconnect the...
