Mack bros quick change barrel system

This is a copy of what Schultz&Larsen and Sauer have been doing for the last 25 and 40 years respectively. If Macbros, and others that will use this system, are smart they should use the dimensions of the Sauer SSG3000/STR/202 bolt/barrel/action interface. There are boatloads of barrels and...

Two new (to me) Wildcats - .240 & .270 Gibbs

If the 270 Gibbs barrel is worn out I would seriously consider having the replacement barrel made of a SIG blank. That should give at least 14000 rounds barrellife in a bolt action..

Steyr SSG 69 P1 Double Set Trigger Adjustment?

If I remember correctly, it has been app 40 years, you can turn the screw clockwise until the front trigger get a regular, almost direct, single stage pull. The rear set trigger will then not be operational. I shot field target comps with a Steyr SL varmint in 222rem in the 80'ies and that rifle...

    Steyr SSG 69 Optics Question

They will hold zero as good as the originals but are a little more hazzle due to lack og qd "handles". (sorry for my bad english..) Zero the Kahles with your huntingammo first and use it as a backup. Mount the new scope "permanently". If the new scope breaks you have a bomb proof backup. You...

    Steyr SSG 69 Optics Question

    Steyr SSG 69 Optics Question

The barrels on the SSG69 is designed to shoot well with 7.62NATO ammo pulled from MG-belts in a SHTF scenario. Barrels have a slight choke and "sizes" the bullets towards the muzzle. Increases accuracy with bad ammo and reduces gas blowby and thus increases barrellife. Expect 8-10000 rounds with...

    Steyr SSG 69 Optics Question

Just get a set of original 30mm rings and mount any quality scope depending on budget. The rings on the Kahles scope is most probably 26mm and 1" scopes will not fit these. The original QD mounts hold zero so keep the 6X as a zeroed backup scope. Do not sell it. Steyr has also made 1" QD rings...

Why isn't straight pull more popular?

I think this Anschutz barreled action, from a CISM rifle, would be a good start for a 22lr PRS rifle. Had it been made in 6mmBR, as suggested by steve123, I think it would have popped up in regular PRS as well due to less movement of body during reloading.

Why isn't straight pull more popular?

I don't think there are any posts in this thread were straight pulls are pushed for PRS. Had PRS had a class for unsupported shooting, weight limited rifles and with tight time limits I think there would have been a case for actions like steve123 decribes in his post.

Why isn't straight pull more popular?

Well, there are different kind of tools to different kind of events. And there are events where 90 degree bolt throws are a disadvantage.

Why isn't straight pull more popular?

The girl, Jenny Stene, in that video can shoot. She is the current ISSF world record holder in 50m, 3 positions full match, 120 shots, with 1185/1200 for women set in 2019. X-ring is .208mrad. 105 shots within .208mrad and 15 9's unsupported using sling and open sights. The last 40 shots in a...

Why isn't straight pull more popular?

Not a chance, The 10/22 locktime is way too slow when shooting a 7ibs rifle at those targets off hand with pulse at >160. In addition there is the quality of the trigger and trigger control.

Why isn't straight pull more popular?

"Running Deer Doubles" was an Olympic shooting event from 1900 to 1960. This event is shot on a "running deer" at 100m and the target moves 25yds in 4.7 sec. In "doubles" you then have to fire two shots in 4.7sec. Lead is app 22moa+/- depending on cartridge. X-ring is app 6". Running Deer was...

    7-6.5 PRC

First question: How many rounds do I need in the magazine with an overbore barrel burning magnum for hunting or elr? If 3 rounds are enough a Blaser R8 is a short "223 micro action" that will handle 338LM, 375H&H and 500 Jeffery. The R8 will handle anything from 22lr to 500 Jeffery. Measure the...

    Ruger no. 1

The 357Max loaded long for a single shot is the perfect round for deer. It's much easier to shoot than a 45-70. My scoped 357max 10" Contender shot 4" 5-shot groups at 200m back in the Ihmsa days, last century.

Honda to release Hydrogen fuel cell car in 2024

In 2019 a hydrogen station blew up in Norway. There were no people at the station when it exploded but people nearby were hurt by airbags going off in their cars.
