Opinions on VV N540 powder for 223/5.56 hand loads?
It’s supposed to be good stuff according to VV’s load data. I’m sitting on 8lbs of it myself but it’ll be awhile before I’m loading anything as we just moved. Hoping it works well, but tagging in for comments.- Basher

Accurate AA2520 Unpopular?
I’ve got about 12lbs of N135 as well. Not a huge amount, but enough to tide me over for a while considering most of what I’m doing is rimfire these days. I recently got a pound of 2520 with a mixed lot of other powders to try. I hear it’s great in the Grendel, one of the main reasons I wanted it. Frankly, a lot of the powders I have are considered temp sensitive compared to more modern offerings, but they’re readily available and more reasonably...- Basher

Yep! Still have it and still grabbing brass and projectiles for it when I can as well lol. I’ve heard the N133 should be a decent fit for it, which is part of why I picked up the N133 in the first place. But I’ll probably shoot .223 at a 5:1 ratio compared to the 6.5G for a few different...- Basher

Lucky me, I’ve stumbled upon decent deals in several VV powders, including N133, N135, and N540. Most of my shooting for the foreseeable future will be in various loadings of .223, so I’m in a decent spot. Always looking to add more when I can though lol.- Basher

Alliant’s prices are out of control absurd. I want to try several of their powders, but won’t bother unless they approach reasonable prices again. I don’t want to find a powder/load my guns love and not be able to find or afford it. 🤷♂️- Basher

Yep, most folks seem to use Starline now that Lapua stopped production. I’m not yet reloading 6.5G but hope to be soon (we just moved and it’ll be a few months yet), and I’m running Hornady only because a) I have a few hundred rounds of factory stuff left to shoot which will add to b) the ~500...- Basher

IMO, no. I’d consider it a lateral move rather than an up/down, though I probably would have done the same as I’m not a big fan of H59 but I love the G2/G3/G4 reticles. If I want a slightly lighter rifle and don’t need quite as much elevation, the LRTS series is great for that. If weight...- Basher

Manners discontinuing elite hunter “a” models?
WTH?? Was this a cost-cutting measure or something? The KMW hardware is a MUCH more refined way to handle things IMO, and it’s ambidextrous. The spacer cheek piece doesn’t look like it’s very off-hand friendly, though I guess most don’t shoot off-hand hardly at all unless a stage calls for it. 🤷♂️- Basher

I agree. I’ve had M70s, R700s (factory and a few customs), a TL2, a few AIs, and now a few Tikkas. Nothing can top an AI in my opinion, but I don’t have that kind of budget anymore. I do still have an FN SPR (which is an M70 action) that’s very, very nice, but the Tikkas are amazing at a third...- Basher

They should have just updated the tooling for the 527/550 lines IMO. I have little to no interest in the 557 or the 600 series. The 452/455/457 continue to be gems, and most of their pistols remain solid as well. But yeah, they effed themselves over with their centerfire bolt action “updates.”- Basher

Looking for budget friendly glass
Tikkas make excellent factory rifles overall, and trigger swaps are stupid easy. Just an idea. As far as glass options around $600, things are kind of limited in terms of what I would consider worthwhile for this area of the sport/shooting world. But limited =/= nonexistent!
