Rifle Scopes Why are there no Leupold guys in the PRS world?

Firstly, can I say this is the most adult SH scope exchanges for ever. Usual suspects missing? I would echo some of the comments from the start of the thread. Coming from time when the market options were really only Tasco or Leupold in this country, there is some strong bias against the...

    Rifle Scopes Most forgiving parallax?

It is super forgiving because you are maxing out at 15x. Magnification levels above 20 start to magnify errors in set up.

    Rifle Scopes Most forgiving parallax?

Thanks for the clarity on the original question. Drilling down. In what position does this happen (sitting, standing, prone)? How did you set your scope up originally (prone, bench, other)? At what stress level do you experience the floating? Can you always come back to the same cheek weld...

    Rifle Scopes Most forgiving parallax?

What hic28 said. Is the question relating to the target being in focus at all times across multiple ranges?

F T/R Competition AICS Bag Rider

I think you can make something useful in the workshop - just need something to inspire your design!

F T/R Competition AICS Bag Rider

A number of guys have run a rod under the rear stock off the butt pad. Try your Google fu for pix.

    French F-Class rifle

That bedding block is main stream in long range BR. Means you can use a heavy barrel and not have the action try and hold it up. Also useful as a way to reduce harmonic variation in a long barrel.

Newb Question: Whats the Deal with the AI small firing pin?

You cannot bush the old bolts. Too hard.

    Swedish M41B sniper rifle

There is a massive difference between the war the Swedish Army was used in WWII and those use made of the Allied and Axis powers. To pretend that Sweden's neutrality in European affairs, a factor since 1815, had no flow on effect to the quality of the M96 and M38 Mausers that hit the collective...

Where are PRS rifles headed in optimal caliber? 22x47/22CM?

You can get approx 5000 very accurate rounds with a vanilla 6mm BR before accuracy becomes noticeable with slow descent into hollow groups at the longer ranges. As a long time 25cal fan I love the thought of a Quartermoor.

And they were neutral during the War.

    6.5 creedmoor vs 6.5x47 lapua

Like everything, it has been done before, and I remember articles in the 1990s about custom loading the 7.62x39 for accuracy. Which is why I really want to run a 303 British out of a bench gun and/or an AI.

    6.5 creedmoor vs 6.5x47 lapua

Oh dear. It really is time to air drop some kleenex into this discussion aka bar room rabble. The plain simple fact remains, as much as certain loud voices scream the opposite, the work we have done over the years to bring BR techniques, thinking, and equipment into the "practical" disciplines...

    6.5 creedmoor vs 6.5x47 lapua

Like dwell time in a barrel, the CM will kill the opposition due to volume of production. We saw it with 308 (nowhere near as good as the UK round on offer) and 223 (see the never ending debate on that one), and now the CM will suffocate competition due to a military contract and volume of...

    6.5 creedmoor vs 6.5x47 lapua

No such a thing as an "inherently accurate" cartridge - that is a made up term much like "eye box" to act as short hand for when people don't really know what they are talking about. What we are talking about, in the case of the 222, the 6mm Lapua, the 6mmBR, the 6.5x 47 etc, is a case that...

    6.5 creedmoor vs 6.5x47 lapua

Ahh, a S/H battle and I have missed the best bits. So the inherent question we are debating is not "inherent accuracy", the two cases are more or less the same thing. Produce the same results and can be tuned to meet the requirements of the shooter's preferred discipline. The root of the...

    14.627 inches @ 2000 yards

That target set up is easy and allows 8 shooters at time. Hopefully should shut down some who say it cannot or should not be done. http://photobucket.com/gallery/user/zfastmalibu/media/cGF0aDovRFNDXzAxNzNfenBzbG56ZHJhcmEuanBn/?ref=1

    14.627 inches @ 2000 yards

This is exactly the competition format needed to develop the discipline into the future. It is how we made 1000 yard shooting mainstream and 2000 yard is the next natural progression. It also moves away from the need for steel but adds the record keeping of paper and, I assume from the limited...

    14.627 inches @ 2000 yards

Hopefully a fulsome match report to come? This, gentlemen, is what the future of extreme long range shooting should look like; it combines accuracy with precision and produces measurable results.
