Rifle Scopes New March in Exhibitions 2018.

The ghost of Cal Zant's flawed tracking survey using a prototype scope and comparing apples with sheep. Everything has been standard for years now but it is the default criticism. Confirmation: March-F 3x-24x42 except initial scopes : 1/6283 MIL All of March-F 3x-24x52 : 1/6283 MIL All of...

Rifle Scopes New March in Exhibitions 2018.

Of course other companies are going to say that they reviewed their product in light of the opposition and learned from that. As I sid in the 22lr post the other day, the shooting world has changed a lot since the late 90s. I well remember being the only guy on the line in '96 using a 16x...

Rimfire trainer optic and accuracy suggestions?

If you have it, use it. By the way the NXS is performing, I will soon have to go through the terrible decision to sell mine because they are no longer up to what I want from them. Sad.

The forum's reaction will be fun to watch. Off to buy popcorn and a new deck chair now.

    How much magnification

Ahh Seth. The quickest way to start a bar brawl on the Inter-web is to say you have a personal preference for a style of scope in your shooting. It brings flame fingers out faster than the call of "fight" in a school yard! Fact of the matter is we are at a tipping point in firearms...

    How much magnification

Good to hear the conversation has been useful. As with all things, this should be the start of the journey not the end and equipment choices will likely change over time. I know I am reconsidering a lot of what I thought about 22 Tactical as a result of these exchanges!

First shot flyer 22 LR bolt action?

Have you measured your first round deflection at key ranges to determine whether it is a consistent shot? The only advice I got from a World Champion BR rimfire shooter was to use sighters - and welcome to the frustrating world of rimfire. I'm still not 100% convinced.

Um - 5 shot groups and printed targets. What it means is that there will be two NXS up for sale soon. They have failed me in hunting and they have failed me at close range target shooting. So to get back to the OP's question, 22x on the NXS is adequate to start but greater flexibility is...

    How much magnification

Went out yesterday to try some more different ammo at 50m. I am sad to say the NXS is not cutting it on the paper target front, with a great deal of blue light reflected around the white numbers on the black paper at 22 power. Focus was fine, but the blue shadow prevented a fine hold...

Rifle Scopes Anyone Using A March Scope

I really like the 52mm over the 42mm. As stated previously, during daylight hours you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the two in any practical way, but the 52mm offers, I think, more versatility during tricky light conditions e.g. shadow and twilight, heavy woods etc. On...

Good posting of pictures - I'll wait until they fix the linkages (hopefully soon) and post some comparisons.

42mm will be perfect in the conditions described. I am trying to post a current photo of a 42mm on a HW100 so you can see scale but failing to get an upload. Hints appreciated.

Rifle Scopes Which new long range scopes are you most excited about in 2018?

Can we define the question a bit better ... what does "exciting" mean? And what constitutes a "long range" scope? Because I am still pretty excited about the scopes I bought 5 plus years ago.

52mm is the pick. Full moon hunting without lights is possible. I remain surprised by what I have seen through the 52mm after dark and makes twilight hunting unfair.

FFP offers a standard aim off regardless of range. SFP gets confusing unless you know your ranges and targets. You don't state the calibre or the target however so the answer has to be "it depends".

Here's cheers for a March debate. Not sure why other brands do not get taken part on such a regular basis but regarding tubes... The 5-40x56 March FFP has 4mm wall thickness tube. All main tube bodies are machined from solid billet. No extrusions. Just independent testing in the UK has...

    How much magnification

Sling shooting I like to use 10 power but bipod I prefer 25 to 30 range. With rim fire I am finding I can go higher power without being disturbed by the recoil. Good for that fine hold on little dots...
