Rifle Scopes Vertical adjustment after zeroing

Don't buy new bases, just buy a pair of these: 25 MOA cant is about right for your scope. That will take back about 7 mils. And you'll need to adjust your zero stop to compensate. XTR Signature Rings

Athlon Ares 2.5-15x Overkill for Hunting?

My 6.5 Creedmoor sports an Athlon Helos BTR GEN2 2-12x42mm Mil which is a bit smaller, lighter, with a wider field of view and it's reticle is better suited to fast closer range shooting. But there's nothing wrong with your Ares 2.5-15x50 choice either, depending on where you hunt. My view is...

Try a pair of these and you won't need a new canted base. These rings will do all the work. in 30 and 34mm sizes: Burris XTR Signature Rings Each ring set includes one set of the +/- 0 MOA concentric, one set each of the +/-5 MOA and +/-10 MOA, and two sets of the +/-20 MOA. With these...

High BC but slow FPS vs. faster, lower BC bullet question

Perhaps this can help: Form Factors: A Useful Analysis Tool Looking over Berger's BC Form Factors the lowest BC Form Factor is held by the 6.5 mm 144 gr LR Hybrid Target @ 0.879. From that theoretical standpoint, that would the one I'd choose if I was looking for the "best" 6.5 CM bullet for...

Plumb line distance when mounting a scope?

If your rifle has a full length picatinny rail and your scope has a flat on the bottom of the center turret, you don't need plum line nor do you need to level your rifle. You just need one of these: A 32 blade feeler gauge You stack the feeler gauge blades as needed in between the rail and...

    Rifle Scopes Sub $500 Scope

This one hits well above it's price class: Athlon Helos BTR GEN2 2-12x42mm AHMR2 FFP IR MIL Riflescope 214105 And if you qualify for a military or veteran's discount it's well under $400. here.

Muzzle break for smaller diameter barrels

VG6 GAMMA 300BLK Relatively slim and short. Ignore the verbiage that's it's only meant for a 300 Blackout. It will work on any 5/8x24 barrel under 30 cal. Is it as effective as a bigger brake, well no. But it does reduce recoil and muzzle jump and is fine for use on a hunting rig.

Area 419 Zero Press vs SCA Nexus Press

Not trying to get into the battle of the reloading presses. For what it's worth both of my presses are more than 35 years old. First is my old reloading room with both presses mounted. Next is the CH Magnum Press no longer made, but can be found used on E-Bay occasionally. And last is the...

Appropriate scope for a Remington 700P

I agree with your recommendations except for the scope. Not that the Vortex Razor Gen II isn't a great optic, but it has two big strikes against it. 1) It's well ,over $2K new 2) It weighs 48oz. Meaning it's better suited to a crew served weapon than an man-portable one. My recommendation is...

    Ring height question

Badger Ordnance 34 MM Scope Ring, Medium, 1.125" Nightforce 1.125 High 34mm Ultralite 6 bolt Ring Set A210 Your old 30mm rings are 1.125" to the center line of your 30mm scope. New 1.125" 34mm rings will bring your rings to the same spot, because both sets of rings are exactly 1.125" to the...

    franchi momentum vs sauer 100

The only JP Sauer recalls on the Model 100 were in calibers 6.5x55 only. FAQ / Frequently asked questions Apparently it was a bad batch of barrels in 6.5 Swede that was the source. My 100 is in 6.5 Creedmoor and is a solid shooter. The mag system on the Model 100 is better than the one on...

Have you tested your scopes ability's to gather light?

Perhaps it's best to say that rifle scopes "transmit" light. They transmit light from object/source that we are looking at to the shooters eye. Some scopes transmit that light better than others, due to various factors found in their lenses like: their size, their #'s (less is more), their...

    brass

So it's your opinion that quality brass will get you more firings and make a difference, but your not really sure via any testing, on how many more firings you get. But that's your feeling. And for the record I'm not saying your feelings are wrong. You might well be right. Great Thanks.....

    brass

Well that's great, so you've extensively tested it. So how many more firings do you get with Lapua, Alpha or Peterson SRP brass as compared to Starline SRP?? 1 , 5 , 10 or more??
