A semi-auto build with scope, rings, and components can go from $1,500.00 to over $4,000.00
A bolt gun can go north of $7,000.00
Many variables, of course, but they can get expensive!
I love the KIDD two-stage trigger so well in my Chacon build that I put one in my Ruger Competition too.
I shoot KYL competition with my rifles and believe the time advantage shooting the targets with a semi-auto offset the advantage of lock time with a bolt gun.
Here’s a not so good pic of my Chacon custom in the foreground with my Ruger Competition in the back.
The Chacon has an Accurate Arms stock, Trijicon 5-50x56 scope, with 24” Douglas barrel and Joe’s tuner.
The Ruger has a Vortex Viper 6-24 HS-T scope.
I have an older LMT MWS that throws the brass directly into the far rear corner of the ejection port and base of the deflector upon ejection.
This has worn the finish off in those areas and created somewhat of an eyesore.
Maybe most would not mind it but I haven't seen any other LMT that does...
Received the Volquartsen firing pin/extractor on Friday and installed them.
Shot the rifle Saturday morning with one misfire but zero failures to extract in 200 rounds. (y)
The Volquartsen extractor is far superior to the Ruger's and is a winner in my book!
I've owned the stainless version for about a month.
It shoots fairly well but nothing to brag about.
Mine has developed chronic failure to extract problems.
Almost threw it downrange yesterday but didn't want to destroy the Razor red dot mounted on it.
Ordered a Volquartsen extractor/firing pin...
