    fx-120i autotrickle question

I'd recommend the Area 419 base - it's much more stable, doesn't shift with vibration and works just great. I passed on the large, heavy measuring cups - I just use a powder pan from one of my old electronic scales and the "locator" base.

Reloading 6.5CM for the JP LRP-07

Wow - thanks for that in depth response, Kiba! I have no idea what the gas port length is on my build - there were no options - but I do have the H2 buffer, SCS, LMOS and detent adjustable gas block so it sounds like I should be able to follow your recommendations. I also use a Redding Type S...

Reloading 6.5CM for the JP LRP-07

spife - Thanks for that comprehensive answer! AR adapters en route-- I'm surprised there are not more folks reloading for the LRP-07. Even JP has little or no info and some of their guys shoot the gun/caliber combo in competition! Anyway, thanks again----

Reloading 6.5CM for the JP LRP-07

I'm expecting my JP LRP-07 in a couple weeks and would like to get a start on reloading some ammo for it. So some questions for those of you who have been reloading 6.5CM for this rifle: Are small base dies actually required for trouble-free functioning? JP recommends them for all their...

    Safran/ Vectronix Terrapin-X *** Update***

I was just jotting down the serial number of my TX and noted that the part number is 914561 though my invoice from Euro-Optic is for part #914734. The latter is also the part # that is used in the ads for the TX at both EO and MHS? Anybody else notice the same thing? Is mine the correct version...

Tripod and Head for Terrapin X

I'm eagerly awaiting a Terrapin X which will be my first laser rangefinder. It just occurred to me that I should probably have a solid mount to get the best results from the LRF but after looking at a variety of models of tripods/heads, I'm totally confused. The tripod itself is pretty...

Nice looking rig - what barrel length and caliber?

    "Best" Semi-Auto Precision Rifle

Rudy - thanks for that dissertation on the physics of semi-autos. It's very helpful in understanding the practical aspects of shooting an SA accurately. Where do you do your instructing? Given the large number of favorable comments on the JP LRP-07, as well as some very positive reviews, I've...

    "Best" Semi-Auto Precision Rifle

Thanks, guys - I appreciate your on-point comments and suggestions. Having spent most of my rifle days with bolt action guns, I had no idea that some of these companies made semi-autos. One thing that struck me - it looks like all the rifles mentioned are DI rather than gas piston which I...

    "Best" Semi-Auto Precision Rifle

I know this may be like Silverado vs F150 or Bud vs Coors but I'm interested in adding a 6.5CM/308 semi-auto precision rifle to my bolt action guns. I'm sure this question has been asked before but I'd like any input into what constitutes the "best" semi-auto PR in terms of accuracy, ergonomics...

**Kestrel 5700 / 5700 Elite and Firmware 1.19 Official Thread**

Totally confused and frustrated! First Kestrel says that Bug doesn't affect new 5700 unit and they are shipping that. Then they say there is no workable upgrade for those of us that have the 5700 Elite Ballistics. I bought mine from them at the SHOT Show 6 weeks ago and have not had a usable...

Dont update Kestrel 5700 to firmware 1.17!!!!

Even though FW 1.17 seemed to be the problem on my new 5700 Elite Balistics (as above) I figured that I had nothing to lose by taking your advice to upgrade to Build 121 of the app. I deleted Build 118, rebooted the iPhone, deleted all gun profiles on the Kestrel, rebooted it, confirmed no gun...

Dont update Kestrel 5700 to firmware 1.17!!!!

Moot point but it was later than that - I first downloaded the app on the 26th and got Build 118. I haven't tried the newer build because I'm pretty sure the main problem is with the FW (Kestrel independently won't delete all profiles, even when adding Factory Restore).

Dont update Kestrel 5700 to firmware 1.17!!!!

Doc, FYI - I bought my Kestrel Elite Ballistics last week (1/25) and the firmware version was 1.17 - had immediate problems transferring profiles. As of yesterday, NK had no quick fix other than waiting for 1.18. Build number on my app was 118 - is that the latest?

    What kestrel??

Thanks for that clarification, Doc - makes sense.

Dont update Kestrel 5700 to firmware 1.17!!!!

Saw this thread too late - bought a new 5700 Elite Ballistics from NK last Thurs and found the same problem. Basically profiles don't transfer seamlessly and in a way you can use them on the 5700. I wonder if the problem is related to the fact that these new units are labeled Elite Ballistics...

    What kestrel??

With regard to the Kestrel 5700 Elite, I see that the newest models no longer have the "Applied Ballistics" name - they're called "Elite Ballistics". That suggests that there may be a difference in the units - or the relationship between Kestrel and Applied Ballistics LLC. Does anyone know if...

Info on JEC Customs - Brakes, etc

BBB can do nothing other than send an inquiry to him - which he ignores. They then close the complaint. Best thing is - if you're foolish enough to do business with him - to file with your CC company within the 60-90 days they allow. Unfortunately, I tried to work with him to the point that I no...

Advanced Marksmanship Hoping rifle when shooting with a bipod...

Having learned a few things since my OP, I may be able to offer some help: If you shoot from a bipod, you need a rear bag to do so effectively. It's a PITA to find the correct size (I now have half a dozen), but when you do, the rifle will barely move. One of the things that seems to me to be...
