    Help with my Enfield

^^^^ This. Use flat based bullets. Did you slug the bore? That would be significantly undersized unless it happened to be a Canadian Arsenals Ltd 7.62 NATO barrel, but those are clearly marked in front of the front sight. OP, You said that accuracy improved after switching to .308 diameter...

    Iron Sight Accuracy...

A big variable in accuracy is the age and service use of the arm...take a surplus arm with 50 to 133 years of use...that use has a significant impact on the target accuracy of the arm. My oldest surplus cartridge arm was manufactured in 1886 and is like new...all my Gewehr 98s are between...

    Iron Sight Accuracy...

Agreed. Sights with a narrow, blade type front can produce excellent results. Try shooting consistent groups with a barleycorn front and V notch rear...it is an exercise in frustration.

    Iron Sight Accuracy...

A good iron sighted group from an accurate milsurp should be around 1.5-2” @100 yards. I can do that with the rifle bagged front and rear with my M1903s, Model 1911 and K31 Swiss using GP11 and my Canadian Ross 1905 and 1910 straight pulls using hand loads. The occasional group can be MOA...shot...

Well, this is going to be a fun project....

Would recommend dye penetrant non destructive inspection for incipient cracks.

Well, this is going to be a fun project....

Correct. Find an action with a shot out original barrel...make a relief cut and the barrel comes off without issue.

Well, this is going to be a fun project....

Rebarrelling process. Far more Eddystones were produced than the other two contractors output... larger sample size. Actually, Eddystone M1917s were the preferred rifles sent overseas with the AEF. Winchesters were prohibited from being sent overseas until later in the war due to a failure in...

Well, this is going to be a fun project....

Eddystone receivers were the receivers most mentioned in DCM documents...Winchester and Remington receivers cracked as well but there were fewer reports of that occurrence with those contractors products. Seen in receivers rebarreled for the Second World War. Apparently pneudraulic tools were...

    Weird FAL. Need ID help.

Interesting because ALL STG-58s are post 1994 imports. They came in 1997-1998, bet it is a post ban receiver too. If it was a gear logo Imbel it would be gtg

    Weird FAL. Need ID help.

Actually, the FN Herstal is engraved on your buddy's rifle... real ones are stamped. The markings on the rifle in question do not look anything like the real FN stamped markings. Might have been humped to increase the price they could get for it from an uninitiated buyer. Looks like a mostly...

    Weird FAL. Need ID help.

The FN Herstal Belgium marking is spurious. ETA- that is an STG 58 barrel.

Well, this is going to be a fun project....

The old A-Square Hannibal rifles had recoil bolts through the stock. With the 470 Capstick’s recoil it should help mitigate stock splitting.

    Good luck with that project.

Well, this is going to be a fun project....

Looking at the original auction photos, that is positively a Pattern 1914 receiver and bolt

Well, this is going to be a fun project....
