Well, this is going to be a fun project....

The Pattern ‘14/Model of 1917 safety is the give away. Brazil did make domestic ‘98 pattern mauser rifles and they also purchased contract mauser rifles from DWM and Mauser Oberndorf...the rear of the receiver ring at the ejection port is straight. The receiver at the ejection port is...

Well, this is going to be a fun project....

Not a Brazilian Mauser. Three possibilities here ...1) A Honduran Model of 1934 contract rifle with the receiver ring and bridge milled down...they were manufactured by Remington. They were manufactured from nickel steel and are fine from a materials standpoint. 2) Remington Model 30 sporter...

I am running ST-4701 on mine, fits factory dovetail.

    Rifle Action Service Life

The cost of the ammunition you would need to expend to wear out an action would exceed the the replacement cost of that receiver by a huge margin. I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.

Gunsmithing Converting Military Mauser to .375H&H?

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/818375048 This is an Oberndorf Model B sporter, which seems to meet your criteria. You can build one, spend as much or more to recreate it...and wind up with a rifle that won’t sell for half of what you spent to build it. A factory built sporter will hold it’s value.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Wanting a shoulder holster, but have no experience.

When I was doing fulltime PSD work I carried my duty Glock in a Galco Miami Classic. As Waterwalker stated...I took the time to fully adjust it. With all the other shit we had to carry I needed to get something off the gunbelt. I prefer strong side OWB carry, but in a suit and working from a...

Gunsmithing Converting Military Mauser to .375H&H?

Any caliber custom Mauser rifle is going to be expensive. Unless you have a bona fide need for an esoteric chambering, you might be better off with a 7x57...my personal choice to have a unique hunting rifle would be a Lee-Speed Sporter in .303 or a Ross 1910 in .280 Ross. ETA- The type and...

Gunsmithing Converting Military Mauser to .375H&H?

Have you actually priced out a full custom Mauser rifle? I used to live around the corner from an old Griffin & Howe gunsmith, George Beitzinger. That man was a master...and he had absolutely beautiful custom Mauser rifles in the sales rack in addition to customer builds in various stages of...

    Which M1 should I buy

Thanks. I have 9 more that are CMP corrects and Collector grade and a 4.66 HRA I got from Scott Duff. back in the day, the Correct grades were a steal... have 2 Greek HRA Corrects that were not graded as collector grade because the greeks stamped rack numbers on the buttstock...other than the...

    Which M1 should I buy

Agreed on a service grade rifle with service walnut stock and hand guards. Would actually recommend either a post Korean War Springfield or an H&R...the finish is far nicer than a wartime rifle. It is all still out there...it is simply a matter of how much money, time and effort you are willing...

    Steyr SSG 69

Press fit barrel...would most likely go back to Steyr for a new tube.

    Bullets tumbling/key-holing, not good.

In any context...no. I would venture a guess of about 1000-1200 rounds of accurate barrel life. PS- barrels are a consumable...to be set back or replaced when needed

    Bullets tumbling/key-holing, not good.

PS- If I paid for a 1-7 twist barrel and received something else, the smith and I would be having some strong words.

    Bullets tumbling/key-holing, not good.

Sorry to hear that Brother. What did the twist rate turn out to be? I have only ever had one 22-250 and it was a factory Rem 700 Varmint with a 1-14 twist barrel...shot ok with 45 grain projectiles, not so much with anything else. That rifle didn’t last long in my inventory
