Night Vision NV and thermal kills...

These two came in on the tail of another pair. We watched them chase the first pair off before they circled us a full 360* and started to leave the same way they came. We wrecked whatever plans they had.

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

I haven't noticed any difference, of anything the Vortex is better. It easily ranges cattle at 1200+yds and trees at 2k+. I've had no issues on coyotes either. But I do miss the radius's three ranges and I've had a few minor issues with grass or brush in front of the object with the Impact. I...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

I tried the red tinted tail light tape and it made the numbers unreadable. I'm going to try having a vinyl decal cut to cover the outer edge edge of the screen next. The brightest part of the light seems to be leaking around the sides of the display.

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Here's a few night pics. You can see that it illuminates the rifle quite a bit even with a full moon. My mounting location doesn't help matters with the brightness. The Impact was set on the dimmest setting and the Radius was second from dim for I've had no issues at dusk or on overcast days...

    Hornadys new ELD VT

I'll let you know! At 3600fps +, I'm guessing it will kill them very dead...... I have a spare 8t barrel under my bench that is begging for some of these. I'm currently shooting 64tgk's out of a 10t on coyotes but it's very hard to judge wind at night and it's eating my lunch past 400yds unless...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Gotcha. Ya, if you're zeroing it on your scope retivle you'll need to figure the range and mils out. But if you're following the instructions with the unit and you measure it at 3.6" above your scope, that's 3.6" at 25yds or 500yds. Either way works.

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

The measurements are exactly the same, there is no additional math involved. You just need to be more precise at closer ranges. If you're off 1/4" in your aiming or measurments at 25 yds, that error will multiply at farther ranges.

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

It doesn't like ranging through openings in trees or behind shrubs as well as my radius. I'm going to try adding a piece of tail-light tape over the display. I've had mine for a few weeks and am still on the original battery with quite a bit of time just messing around the house. Overall...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Has anybody else noticed this oblong shape for the vis laser? First pic is 10yds, second is 100.

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

But doesn't it power back up almost immediately? Unless there's issues with the remote loosing connectivity, I don't care if the unit powers down every few minutes while I'm on my scanner. The buttons are going to be difficult to operate with gloves on and I wish the display was dimmer on the...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Does anybody know the difference in what the unit is looking at between Normal/ELR ranging? Is it similar to the Best/Last option in the Furry binos?

    Tubbs Nose Ring Tool

How did this work out for you? I am thinking the same thing.

    To Zero Stop or Not

Can confirm. Have shot my rifle on it's side in a match. Did it make me think and learn something? Yes Was it fun? Yes. Was it practical? Debatable...

    How to Shoot PRS

I RO several matches a year in the midwest and the expectation is that you've found the target and are in glass before the bolt is closed. I might let it slide if you're looking over the top of the scope at the target and close the bolt, depending on the situation. I suppose these might be range...

Night Vision Considering a new thermal scope

If you're trying to shoot beyond a few hundred yds, the adaptive reticle is a serious handicap. Anything more than a .5 mil hold and it switches colors and is lost on the target. It can be turned off, but then your only color option is a black on black hot or white on white hot and you're right...

Night Vision EOTECH CLIP ON THERMALS ( Full details)

The manual for the LR tells you to set parallax to 100yds. The ELR manual specifies 300yds, although I think I ended up closer to 150yds with mine, but I'm not sure because the knob only has dots on it.

Night Vision Super Yoter C - Any Experience Yet?

To the best of my knowledge, they use the same front sensor and lens, but the Genii has a better rear display and lens assembly. I feel the Genii produces a significantly better image that doesn't degrade as much with higher magnifications. Also, my Genii had a scanner mode in the menu that...

Night Vision Super Yoter C - Any Experience Yet?

Can you define performance a little more specifically? I can't think of a single thing the first one does that the Genii doesn't do better off the top of my head.

    Night Vision SilencerCo Radius Mounting

Thanks for the info. That's a lot wider (taller in my case) than I was expecting. It's an old pic. The LRF in the Halo wasn't working and I wanted to get some hunting in on my time off. I switched to a clip-on shortly after that.

    Night Vision SilencerCo Radius Mounting

I still have mine mounted on the side and it's been pretty reliable out past 600yds on coyotes. Meaning I'm ranging the coyote and not something else, but I can see where that tall narrow beem would tend to give multiple readings. I use the visible laser to mark kills if I walk out to get them...
