    I posted some pics over on Wigs thread earlier if you haven't seen them yet. Coming from 8-12 deg FOV units, the FOV on the ELR is small. I'm definitely going to have trouble finding closer animals and scanning. Inside of 3-400yds, I think the LR will do everything you need it to.
