No. The flat edge goes to front of barrel. That way the full length rail on the fore arm (if he were to put one on) would be flush to the action rail.- Darkside-Six

It should come with the light one on already. At least mine did. As far as the bipod mount. You need abs arca mount made for the atlas. I use the one from Area 419 but RRS makes one as well.- Darkside-Six
