    Shorty 22-250, 243, or 6x47??

Assembled a custom Savage hunter for my nephew. Savage Model 10 SA with the standard 22" sporter barrel cut down to 17" in a Boyds American Walnut stock. It's a beaut and shoots the 105 Amaxs at 2750 FPS. He was banging a 10" steel plate at 340 yards sitting cross leg and supported with his...

    Gunsmithing Electric smoker for cerakote

Yep I have been using a Cajun electric for 3 years now. Heats to 275 with a thermostat and timer. Put parts in set time and forget about it. It can fit 20" AR barrels but is to short for longer barreled actions. I made a tall one out of a stack on gun safe for long stuff. Everything else's...

Economical places to order AR small parts from?

When I need small parts and don't want a full kit I order from Welcome to The Citizens Armory, LLC - Your Parts and Accessories Headquarters They ship fast and use UPS envelopes so it's cheap. I hate Brownells and other places that send you a monster box full of green air puffed bags and a...

Seekins Precisions new 308 Taking orders now!

Awesome Glenn! Been waiting for these and want one but I want to build my own on your receiver set and the IMR-T rail. You picked some good parts but I want a .260, different trigger and stock. Any ETA on when the lowers/uppers will be offered for sale?

    Gunsmithing Cerakote: Blasting vs. Sanding

The trick with Cerakote is to follow the process exactly. Any deviation will result in disappointment. It is a tricky application. Not difficult but if you skip a step or don't do a good job it will be reflected in the result. If you can't blast then I would suggest Duracoat. It goes on...

    Adjustable ar stock for cheap

Yes I have one and love it! It's half the price and half the weight of the PRS and does everything the PRS does. I never liked the PRS because of the weight. I can't imagine breaking the Luth MBA. I have a JP silent captured spring in mine and love it. This is Grendel.

    AR tight throat, need help!

Had the same problem with a Grendel barrel. Some of the non Standard chambers were really short. A friend bought the rifle but it would not shoot worth a damn. Rounds got stuck. He ended up buying a Shilen match and gave me the barrel. I rented a 6.5 throating reamer from 4-D for $28. Six...

Help me decide which 6.5 to build? Let me hear your opinion please.

I'm currently shooting a 6.5-06. 140g Amax at 2950. 1200 yards with low recoil. You must reload but brass is easy with either 25-06 or .270. I loved my 260 pushing the 140's at 2750 but wanted a little more. It's a kick ass round.

New To reloading - .223/.308 Match Grade Reloading Setup Help

If you truly wish to make superior match ammo then you really need to charge them one at a time. It really does not matter what press. They all press well. Invest in dies and a good scale. Here is what I use; Press - RCBS and Lee Dies - Redding or Forster Scale - RCBS Chargemaster...

    6.5 Grendel v .300 Blackout

Interesting reading here. I first forayed into the Grendel three years ago. Build one and shot it for awhile but moved on to different things since I was going crazy trying everything. I've learned alot more and am more refined in what I want. I've had a dozen or so large frame AR's in .260...

Building a new long range LR-308 - 1000 yard gun

This will do you well. Lilja's 1024 24" 1:10 SS Match. I have one of his 10740 20" and it's wicked accurate. The 24" will get you the velocity you need with the 175's and even the real heavies. I imagine the 208 Amax moving at 2700+ would be killer. In stock and available too. They are...

    .243 Winchester Powder

Using Alliants Power Pro 4000MR with good results. 105 Amax's at 2850 out of a 16" barrel. Fast and handy!

Which bullet in a 260/6.5 for UKD shooting?

For true long range the 140's rule. Either Amax, Berger or SMK (142's). I was shooting the 140 Amax out to 1K in .260 Remington which was excellent. I had them moving 2690 in a 20" barrel. I have moved on to 6.5-06 with a 26" tube and now have them moving 2950 which is flat out amazing. 27...

Cerakote durability over anodized / factory finish lowers?

No comparison. As a Cerakoter I can tell how good each manufacturers anodizing is by how hard or easy it is to blast off. You would be surprised at some! Cerakote must be applied correctly or it is no better than the others. But when done correctly there is no substitute. I say this having...

    Home build resale value

The real reason to build is to choose the individual components YOU want. Factory rifles are a blend of parts chosen by the manufacturer based on performance and price. Most folks end up replacing and upgrading parts anyway unless you get a Larue, Knights or some other super high end rifle...

    Cerakote vs DuraCoat

Duracoat is an air dry epoxy paint. Google Sherwin Williams Poulene which is what Duracoat is. It is a decent paint and is durable if applied properly but most don't. Cerakote is another animal altogether. Ceramic coating than must follow rigid prep and cure times. When done correctly it...

Check out my latest project - Dual caliber LR weapon system

Very nice BC83! With a scope on both uppers I could not fit everything with an upper on the lower. Had to separate them but oh well. Same result. It's just wicked cool to open that up for people and watch as they start to understand what they are looking at.
