I'm still running my Gen 1 purchased in 2010 and have yet to break or bend the alignment pin. I use the rifle for testing barrels made up for customers along with shooting my own oddities. HK pro has a lot of great info but the site can be a little snobby. Since your mp5 isn't really an HK some folks get weird. It does look like the welds on the right side are rubbing from your pics. Obviously we can't see the left side but chances are they're dragging too. With the spacer removed the tube can bend back to its resting position and you're likely clearing the welds a bit. If you can get a cartridge roll...- biffj

it is quite possible to bend the tube and bind up the system. Maybe in your slap and shoot drills you dinged something. That is what you need to determine. You can use a sharpie or other marker to color the cocking piece. Put it back together and move it a few times, then look it over to see...- biffj

You may have something jammed into the cocking tube that is dragging the cocking piece. Its not uncommon. You could also have a lot of goop gumming up the works and after sitting a few days it solidifies a bit and makes things tough to run. My bet is on crap in the cocking tube. It could even...- biffj

Not sure what a grain is other than wheat or corn etc.....are you talking bullet weight? Silly semantics. The others are right. A 1-8 twist should stabilize up to about 240gr pointed boat tail bullets. If you're having trouble check the actual twist rate of your barrel. You'd be surprised how...- biffj

I know this post is a bit old but you may find that Reloder 17 and 175gr TMK will give you an excellent clone for the GP11 round. Yep, got you there. The gen 2 system is so much more solid and repeatable. Had to start somewhere though. I don't really haul my rifle anywhere but from the car to the bench normally so I don't get the same wear and tear you do. I never really thought about bending the pin either. Roll pins...- biffj

Why do you need gen 2 bolts? Any of them will work with either barrel extension. Doggie, You've popped 4 pins? I still haven't broken any. I've got a gen 1 SRS I bought in 2010 and I've run bolts made all the way up to last year. I'm pretty sure they're all compatible with all the rifles. I've yet to see one that doesn't lock up properly and headspace right. After making a lot of barrels over the years I've fitted a lot of gen 1...- biffj

I've run them out of my 338 too but I wasn't getting 3200 fps out of the 338. The faster the bullets go the faster they spin. Thats where the trouble comes in with jacketed stuff vs solids and fast twist barrels. Keep the velocity down and they won't come apart. Run them too fast and they may...- biffj
