Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

I'm using a Defense Solutions LLC mount on my SRS. Just got back from a long range shoot in South Dakota where I managed to get some hits on targets from 100 to 2500 yds using my NightForce 5--25 ATACR. The mount is a 70MOA and allowed me to use everything the scope had to get out there while...

The new 33XC & 37XC cartridges designed by David Tubb

Not a lot of new stuff to report today. I let a newer shooter have a go with the 33XC at 2000 in the windy conditions prevailing today. She hit the target after 6 shots. She then managed to hit at 2500 yds with my buddy's 375 Cheytac HTI. I tried 10rds at 2700 with the HTI but the wind kept...

    Desert Tech MDR Opinions?

I checked with my buddy on the MDR in 6.5X47 and it turns out he only ran it out to 1000. He had multiple hits though and a few others and I managed it too. He did run his Desert Tactical SRS out to 1800 in 6.5X47 though. The high grass and small bullet made it tough to see the hits past that...

The new 33XC & 37XC cartridges designed by David Tubb

Today was pretty good as the winds died down a bit for a while this afternoon. My buddy was able to hit at 2 miles with his Desert Tech HTI in 375 Cheytac. I tried once again to hit the 2600 and 2700 yd targets but by the time I got to shoot the wind had picked back up. Oh well....thats how it...

The new 33XC & 37XC cartridges designed by David Tubb

I finally got a few rounds downrange today starting at 500 to check my zero and working out to 2500. I was all around the 2700 yd target but with wind issues I just couldn't quite nail it down. Tomorrow is another day and we have targets out to 2 miles. Not sure how much I can really go beyond...

    Desert Tech MDR Opinions?

I'm at a long range shoot this week and we ran one of the guys MDR rifles in 6.5X47 Lapua yesterday and today with a non factory barrel. He had a first round cold bore hit yesterday at 1000 yds and I believe today he managed to get the thing out to 1500 yds. I'll have to check with him tomorrow...

    Desert Tech MDR Opinions?

One other little detail is that these rifles shouldn't be sold until they're ready. This is a problem for those who want new and cool right now but the main cause of this is a company announcing something that isn't and won't be ready. Don't let marketing sell til you've got something that...

    37XC vs 375 ct

I'd do some research before committing but the 37XC does seem like a decent sort with a lot less upfront cost than buying a big enough action for the CT. As for the DT there are guys who do barrels. I built a 33XC for my DT and so far I'm impressed. 31" barrel and I'm getting 3350 out of the 265...

    6.5x47L vs 6.5 Creedmoor

I started with the X47 because at the time they were the only ones who had Lapua brass. Remington sucks and hornady isn't as good. We have found that the 47 seems to have a lot more loads which work really well and a lot less fiddling. So if you reload its a good one to pick. If you're buying...

Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

Never had any problems with the trigger or barrel swapping on my Gen 1 rifle. Trigger runs about 1.5 lb with no creep. All of the barrels return to zero. I keep a log of where each barrel is zeroed and return there when I swap. Back to zero.....what improvement can you make on that? Have no...

    Lefties with 10/22 suppressed

I've never had any problems but if you're especially sensitive you can make up a deflector with tape or plastic. Frank

The new 33XC & 37XC cartridges designed by David Tubb

Got to run some more tests with the RL33 on saturday. Its a new lot so I loaded up a few rounds to make sure it wasn't way off. This lot is hotter and slower. I'm seeing pressure signs with 2 grains lower charge weight and the velocity is down by about 80fps. Glad I started low. The 265 Lazers...

Is there a reason there's not many bullpups?

If the 338 rang your bell the real cartridges would probably kill you. In truth there are those who like the bullpups and those who don't and they're all entitled to their opinions. If you don't like them then its not a problem. Makes more for us. I've noticed the 33 XC has a lot more poop...

Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

Yes it does and very well too. In fact I haven't used any mags for quite some time. The only issue is if you slowly open the bolt and the round drops into the sled instead of ejecting. 338 Lapua and longer are a pain to get out so I just pop them back into the chamber and open the bolt...

Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

I just built a barrel in 33XC for my Gen 1 SRS with the short Covert handguard. It seems to be worth the effort in gaining about 400 fps over the 338 Lapua. I've only got 50rds down the pipe so far with load development and I'm getting 3380 fps out of 265gr Cutting Edge Lazers. I've really only...

Speaking of Camping World - The CEO says the flag ain't coming down.

He might have the right attitude toward your / our Flag but he is a rabid anti-gun liberal like so many who've made money off the masses and feel guilty. Frank

    6.8SPC ——> .224 Valkyrie??

Use care in annealing prior to reducing the neck size by much. It will sometimes lead to crushed shoulders rather than just a smaller neck. You can anneal afterwards and it will take a shot to help harden it back up and get you on the program. As the last poster noted there may be a market for...

    Desert tech 37xc 33xc

I just ran across this thread but maybe you're still here..... I finished up my Schneider barrel for my SRS gen 1 about a month ago and have had a chance to shoot it a couple times. I started with the 1-8 twist P5 rifled blank and turned it with a long section straight at the 1.25" diameter...

salt bath annealing does not work

I see....so its fine that industry has been using salt baths to anneal, temper, and otherwise work on all metals.... except for the exalted cartridge brass which has special properties no other metal has. It anneals with heat just like most metals and the proper application of heat will cause...

salt bath annealing does not work

It isn't like this is some sort of rocket science. Heat is heat and unspecified industries use all kinds. Just because AMP wrote a report doesn't make them any more reliable a source than unspecified industries. As to whether it will work on rifle brass in your garage I'm sure it will depend on...
