Tikkas are better than....
Original T3 but the T3x does not seem to have upgraded it. I ran a Tikka hard for years and didn't have problems. Then got a second one in 223 and was at a weekend match and another guy had his bolt stop break. We fixed it by taping a sharpie to his stock to act as a bolt stop and on the next...- ddavis

Cooling down my Reloading Room
I'm the same situation as you, nearly exactly. South Texas, built a 7x10' reloading room in the garage, insulated. I ran a portable unit for a while. It was awful. To go from mid 80's down to 70 degrees, it would take several hours. I switched to a 5k btu window unit and it will do the same...- ddavis

Tikkas are better than....
I've broken about 4 bolt stops on Tikkas and have at least 3 friends who broke theirs as well in competition use. 308 gas system length.
Maybe not exactly what you are looking for but a data point nonetheless. The Savage MSR10 uses a proprietary gas system length that's 1.5" longer than mid-length in a 16" 308. What am i giving up with a Tikka vs custom actions?
I don't have much time for competitive shooting anymore but did it for years and loved my Tikka rifles but had to move away from them. Night Vision Perst 4?
Interesting hanging it way out there. I guess it's not a problem with it being on top like that, shouldn't be contacting anything when you shoot. Is that the 556 or 308 M17? I had a 308 for a while, it was dogshit and would not function with a can. How do you like yours? -Dan- ddavis
