How are the CMT HDM ARCA rails?

Resurrecting this thread as I'm interested in the CMT Arca handguard. Any confirmation that it fits the SA agb with no contact under firing? How's the handguard for poi shift going from bipod prone to shooting off bags?

Go to handguard for precision build on forged upper

Yeah, in this case I'm really just trying to do what I can with a regular receiver, as nice as the LMT are.

Go to handguard for precision build on forged upper

Any poi shift going from prone to tripod or bag at the magwell with either of those? I have a large frame with the MI Combat Rail, I'm gonna test that and see. If it has minimal shift then I might just grab another one for this build.

Go to handguard for precision build on forged upper

Yeah, zeroing in the middle of the shift makes sense, or zeroing prone and knowing the offset for positional, lotsa ways to skin that cat. I'm not expecting no shift like with a monolithic upper but the more I can minimize it, the better. I also think you are a correct in that the further out...

Go to handguard for precision build on forged upper

Same results with the JP mk3 and their Mlok handguard?

Go to handguard for precision build on forged upper

Yeah, I guess I can't go wrong with JP or Geiselle. I don't mind the look of the JP rails at all but I'm not a fan of having to add a top (full-length) pic rail. I'm leaning towards the Geiselle Mk16. Anything else to consider? I'm kinda curious about the MI Night Fighter handguard with it's...

Go to handguard for precision build on forged upper

What are some go-to handguards for a precision AR build on a forged upper with 20" hbar. Looking to minimize poi shift when going from bipod/prone to tripod or off a bag. Preferably 15", able to find a SA adjustable underneath, full pic rail at 12:00 and mlok otherwise. Always been partial to MI...

    MK262

Nice, curious to hear your results. VV don't have any data for N150 and Hornady 75 BTHPs (of which I have lots) but they do for 77gr Nosler CCs (max 25.6gr) and 77gr Berger OTMs (max 25.2gr) and I've always found the data for CCs and SMKs to be pretty interchangeable with the 75 BTHPs. I'll try...

    MK262

Yeah, I got it for .308s but ran out of N140 and wasn't shooting much .308 so I figured I'd give N150 a go in my .223 bolt (26") and get great results, 24.7 gives me 2950 with 75s and <1/2moa. Just hammers. Might be too slow at 2.260 in an 18" barrel though, I dunno. I'll try and report back.

    MK262

Ever try N150? I've been using it for my bolt .223 with Hornady 75 BTHPs and the same charge weight I use with N140 (24.7) gives me about 75fps faster (than with N140) and no pressure. This isn't loaded to AR mag length but I've been meaning to work up a load at AR mag length so I can use it...

    Spotters Spotting scope chassis.

@MDT_Josh and I came up with a cage for the Vortex Razor 27-60x85 straight spotter (with the mrad reticle). My idea and napkin sketches, entirely his design work, haha. He's run it a bunch with a red dot and tried it with an Impact 4000 but it's just 3d printed so not the best for holding zero...

Rifle Scopes Going from Razor gen 6-36x to LHT 4.5-22x

I have both and they fill very different niches. IMO the only reason to go from a Gen 3 to the LHT is because you want/need to drop weight (as it weights half what a Gen 3 does). So if dropping that weight is really critical to you, then go for it, otherwise there is no reason to do so. The...

    Tripod field shooting with magnums

As others have said, you just have to be on it with fundamentals, especially NPA but understand that your sight picture will be noticeably more disturbed than when shooting a lighter recoiling rifle regardless. Attaching your pack to the tripod (if time permits) to increase its weight helps...

    2 Tripod Question

I've done this a few times over the years in team match settings, most recently at BOTC in June. Double tripods works great. In all instances though I'd say that both tripods I used were roughly equivalent. If I had to choose where the sturdier tripod went, it owuld be front support though as...

Mk12 mod 0 with Swan sleeve stiffer than contemporary free floatbtube?

Thanks for that! Beauty rifle. Yeah, I guess I probably should've also asked which free-float handguard/barrel nut combos are less susceptible to POI shifts.

Mk12 mod 0 with Swan sleeve stiffer than contemporary free floatbtube?

I don't know if this is a dumb question but would a rifle set up with a PRI forend and a Swan sleeve (like a Mk12 Mod 0) have a stiffer forend than a contemporary free float tube that attaches to the barrel nut? I know most ARs that have a free float handguard that clamps to the barrel nut...

Medium Weight 20" match 5.56/.223 barrel's: Where are they?

Honestly a fluted Craddock or WOA seems like the answer. Gives you the profile you want at the weight you want. You'll never see the flutes...

Why not a fluted SAM-R from Craddock?

Something coming new for Kestrel? They’re on sale…hmmm

There will always be the new shiny thing but regardless of what comes down the pipe, I don't think you'd regret getting a 5700 Elite, especially on sale. I've had one since (I think?) 2017 or '18 and it's a great piece of kit.
