    Who still drives a manual?

All three of my vehicles have manual transmissions.

    Bolt gun for the wife

I don't think I'd be shooting at anything that could eat me with a 6.5 Creedmoor.

    Indian or Harley

I'm not wrong about that at all. If that's what has to happen, then that should happen. Harley-Davidson has over a hundred year history. It can't just abandon all that matters about Harley-Davidson to appeal to a market that it can never capture. Air cooled, OHV, simple American motorycles are...

Gunsmithing Legal question about pin & weld

I pinned and welded mine myself as well (years ago, long since forgot about it until this post) but I wondered that about the silver solder, if you'd be giving up any accuracy or potentially warping the barrel.

Gunsmithing Legal question about pin & weld

To be clear, the ATF doesn't prosecute anyone. And even if they WANTED someone prosecuted for some sort of technical violation like this, it's extremely unlikely that any AUSA would take the case. Like you say, these charges tend to be added onto other criminal cases (often investigated by...

Gunsmithing Legal question about pin & weld

I don't know who the witnesses will be and nor do you. But the "internet mafia" view that the ATF is some sort of evil people who are out to get you is asinine. The vast majority of federal crimes involving gun charges come on top of other crimes (e.g., drug trafficking) and not on their own...

    Indian or Harley

I don't think they're stuck at all. People WANT what they're selling. People pay as much for their product as their competitors, even though their competitors do not have the institutional inertia you describe and can change things, can change technologies, do substantial redesigns, etc. I...

Gunsmithing Legal question about pin & weld

You won't be going up against "them." The United States will be represented by an Assistant U.S. Attorney--who works for the Department of Justice. The ATF is not a party and won't be at the table.

    Indian or Harley

If they don't have that card in their deck, they are finished. People do not ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles because they are "the best" or because they've out-competed their competitors. People ride them because of their brand. They are a symbol of Americanism just like Wicnhester/Remington...

    Indian or Harley

I honestly think emissions or no emissions, H-D would have a good argument that creating rules that destroyed their brand was wrong. A Harley with a radiator is not an American motorcycle, it's just another motorcycle. I know I didn't choose to ride a Harley to ride just another motorcycle...

    Indian or Harley

Nope! No radiators, ever! I really hope other Harley riders dig their heels in the same way.

    Indian or Harley

I'll ride a used one then. If radiators are the only way forward, then Harley-Davidson is finished as a company. Air cooled engines are as much a part of Harley-Davidson as every other design feature. Fuel injection is fine; I'm not a luddite. But a water cooled motorcycle is something...

    Indian or Harley

Americans buy air cooled motorcycles, just like we buy and field direct impingement rifles. Simple and strong has been the American way for centuries. It's the same reason we still buy and use OHV V8s while the world scoffs at us and buys electric cars. Outside of a race course, there is no...

    Indian or Harley

Either one for me. I prefer the styling of Harley-Davidson motorcycles but any air-cooled American motorcycle is fine with me. Wouldn't be caught dead on a bike with a radiator or reverse.

Any mountain bikers out there 2.0

I like a high "stack" which is what we call it, but within reason . You don't want it to be as high as a BMX bike with all your weight on your butt because you won't be able to keep the front end down when climbing. And when you're going downhill, your butt isn't going to be on the saddle anyway.

Least expensive AR you’d trust your life to?

My rifle is so old and made from so many different kinds of parts that I haven't even heard of the names that many of you are dropping. I wish I had the time to shoot it more. I don't think there is such a thing as a perfectly reliable mechanical object. I think if I was going to buy a $2000...

7 PRC is released. Any thoughts? especially on the action length?

There was 7 STW for 40 years before either of those. I don't see the point.

.338 Lapua or stick with my .300 win mag? Long range shooting.

If your question is if you need a bigger magnum to shoot beyond 400 yards, absolutely not. A 16" AR will shoot 400 yards all day long. A .308 will shoot 800 with mediocre ammo and 1200 with good ammo. Your 300 win mag, if it's a 10 twist, will get you to a mile and then some. If you think...

    401K down 15%, Advice?

Definitely ride it out. I'm even putting more money and getting more aggressive with it.
