    WARNING on Freedom Munitions .308Win 168gr A-Max

This would be a perfect entry into "reloading lite" for you. All you need bullet puller, a mic, a electronic scale, and a Lee hand press with seating die. Pull all the bullets and collect all the powder. Load cases at lower charge than the original. Reseat bullets to appropriate length. VOILA.

    WARNING on Freedom Munitions .308Win 168gr A-Max

Any time a primer exits a case without a decapping die, that is a bad sign for pressure. You know this, but continued shooting. The only acceptable way to deal with this is stop shooting and pull down the rounds to reduce the charge. This is done with a bullet puller. Or get replacement ammo...

    Consistency, or lack thereof

A few things. Less is more for case neck cleaning. I tend to try and leave the carbon from firing inside, similar to what many have mentioned. I don't even bother to remove lube inside the neck (I use imperial wax lube, not liquid, though). A good chamfer is a must. Use a VLD chamfer too, even...

For the Love of God, GI Joe and John Wayne.... cleaning and abrasive cleaners

I don't think this is going to help sell Forsaken Industries products here on SH, this is a skeptical bunch.

    FN 18" Hybrid Barrel

Exactly my thoughts. Given it is CHF/chrome-lined barrel, I have zero complaints with that accuracy, and I am sure it could be optimized if I tried. But I am not sure I care. I will shoot some of my bulk long range loads (75 BTHP over 22.6 gr H4895) and see how it does. Thus far it has been...

    FN 18" Hybrid Barrel

I had bought a few of these barrels back in Dec. 2024. I finally screwed one on to shoot. Some quick feedback. They were packaged like crap, and were basically thrown it a box with some of them at plastic sleeve on them. They incredibly were not damaged besides a few cosmetic nicks/dings...

Best corrosion protection for small steel parts?

The Aviation formulation of Corrosion X is the way to go. Many things used for aviation, chemicals included, have to go through rigorous testing and approvals. Subsequently their formulation is not often changed, otherwise they have to go through the approval process again. Corrosion X Aviation...

Best corrosion protection for small steel parts?

That is a great question. I know exactly the slight interior glass buildup you are talking about. I would be much more concerned with the VPCi (IE vapor phase) products causing this. I primarily use Corrosion X on the firearms, with the Corshield stuff being for other equipment exposed to more...

Ideal .223 Bolt Action Plinker (?)

Another option for a plinker (not necessarily a heavy barrel match rifle) is Eurooptic has Tikka Ranahan's in 223 on sale right now.

Best corrosion protection for small steel parts?

Fluid Film is good, but other products are better. If you want a wet film - Corrosion X Aviation is outstanding. Another option is Cortec Corshield VPCi 369 (even better for long term storage as it emits vapor phase inhibitors, but messier). For a dry waxy film - CRC heavy duty corrosion...

    Toughest scope mounts?

Agree on these. There are all sorts of fancy attachments schemes for both the rail to mount/ring interface, as well as for the ring itself. I have a hard time understanding how they are somehow dramatically superior to a through bolt with a large hex nut for the mount/rail, and a 4 (or 6)...

Is bedding the AR barrel a myth? What's the best way?

In terms of the best product from Loctite for retention of cylindrical parts - 620 is good, but is 660 better? It is significantly higher viscosity, and has about twice the gap filling ability as well. For those of you who have a really loose fit, it is actually designed for retaining shims too...

AR-10 is chewing up my brass

Use LC brass, and more moderate loads. The small improvement in consistency with good brass like Lapua/Alpha/etc is lost in the noise of a semi auto. LC brass is much more durable, especially in the case head. Even without a small (high pressure) firing pin, I have fired LC brass up to 10...

11 shots for 1.2 MOA at 600 yards with my M14

That is some good shooting, and some nice rifles!I have always considered getting a M1a mainly just because I think they are cool, but I keep procrastinating because I have a MWS that has proven to be an exceptional and consistent shooter. What kind of accuracy could be expected from a...

    308 Winchester AR Only

I have fired a ton of 155's of various flavors (150 FMJ-BT, Hornady 155 HPBT, and Sierra 155 SMK) with H4895. A charge in the 41.7-42 gr range, loaded to mag length is the ticket. Seems to work great with just about all of these, and doesn't beat the gun or brass up too much. This is with LC...

    First Remington 700 build..

For a shooter that Rem 700 would likely be fine in the stock configuration. Then you can have something to blast with as you build a fancier caliber on a custom action. Blueprinting is a waste for a stock Rem 700 action. Another option is a Remage barrel with a nut if you are deadset on using a...

Many around here who took the jab now showing same.

The polio epidemic may seem like a lie until you are paralyzed. We have the luxury in living in a country it was basically eradicated from long ago, and the people who died from it or lived with profound life-long disabilities have passed away. You do realize that polio is still active in many...

These seem to be pulldown 140 SST's. I bought a bunch. They look really good. Still waiting to shoot some though...

    6.5 PRC Loads

They have shot fine for me, although it isn't really a fair comparison being factory vs hand load. I still haven't shot the rifle much, but the last 2 x 10 shot groups I noted above were 0.8 MOA for N565, and 0.7 MOA for H1000. Now this is not BR accuracy, and I do think I could do better...
