Spotting scope recommendation; Vortex or Kowa?

I can tell you that compared to other medium level products from Vortex/Burris/etc, the Kowa Prominar glass is absolutely incredible. I have also been thinking of getting a TSN Prominar spotter as I have a pair of Genesis XD44 10.5x44 binos with the same Prominar glass that are really, really...

    18" 6.5 PRC and 135 A tips

The same powder that provide peak velocity in a longer barrel will also provide peak velocity in a shorter barrel. If reducing muzzle flash/blast is important to you a faster powder can be used but it will reduce velocity.

Night Vision Helmet Mounted Dual Thermals

Dual SkeetIRx are amazing and do provide some depth perception, although I wouldn't say to the same degree as NOD's because you are fundamentally looking at a digital screen more so than a true optical representation from bino NOD's. I wouldn't want to try navigating with lower quality...

    6.5 PRC Loads

It was pretty full at 59 gr, but there seemed to be a "little" more room to compress at that point... Honestly I would be perfectly fine with velocity in the 3050 range at that temp. Both H1000 and N565 are relatively temp stable but I don't want to push it if it is going to overpressure in more...

    6.5 PRC Loads

I just ran a few ladders with the 143 ELD X out of a 24" Shilen select match barrel on a Rem 700 action. OAL was 2.950. Lapua virgin brass and CCI-250. Temp was a balmy 25 F. H1000 got up to 3050 fps at 59 gr, and 2980 at 58 gr. No pressure signs. N565 was a dead on the same. As there is not...

    22 creedmoor

Figured I would report back on initial loads. All loads shot out of a 24" Shilen Select Match with 1/7.5 twist on a Rem 700 action. Used the 80 ELD-X and 64 Nosler Bonded. All were Alpha LRP brass with CCI-200's. Both H1000 and N565 are a little on the slow side with 80's. Topped out around...

Bullet and powder advice for 1:8 .223 for target/coyote shooting

Despite the fast twist many 1/7 and 1/8 twist barrelw ill shoot lighter bullets just fine. I have had no issues even shooting 40 Vmax's in a 1/8 twist barrel. The 53 Vmax has almost the same BC as the 69 SMK. Any number of powders work well with it (RL-10x, Benchmark, H335/748, AA 2230, etc).

Bullet and powder advice for 1:8 .223 for target/coyote shooting

Have you considered the 53 Vmax as well? It is a bit more finicky than the other 55/60 Vmax but has a better BC and will buck the wind better. It can also be pushed quite a bit faster than the heavier bullets to stay above a reasonable expansion threshold.

Opinions on the CZ 600 ST2 Range from owners and people who have shot it please.

I don't have experience with the CZ 600 directly, but do have experience with other CZ bolt guns. There isn't much aftermarket support for the platform, but I would ask if it is necessary if you are planning to shoot the rifle in stock configuration. That being said I have always had good luck...

Night Vision US-Made Thermal Clip-on IN STOCK?

Also in a fashion that is typically the opposite of what is normally experienced in the firearms industry, the wait times for PoT stuff from SOK have proven to be shorter than first quoted...

Night Vision US-Made Thermal Clip-on IN STOCK?

+3 on SOK... The go to guys for PoT stuff. However gentlemen who really seek to empty their wallet for the champagne of thermal clipons skip the Voodoo S and go straight to the Voodoo MX with the integrated 1550 nm LRF and AB package (OK maybe a HISS would be more extravagant but we are...

Night Vision US-Made Thermal Clip-on IN STOCK?

Get a Voodoo S you won't be sorry... If you really want to drop some coin on top of that get twin SkeetIRX's on a Wilcox bridge... You will begin to see the world in thermal and navigation with them is as easy as NVG's

    LMT .308 MWS

I have a SSA-E and it is a good trigger for this application. There is a risk for a short-travel single stage trigger like the SD3G/S3G (depending on technique and recoil impulse) to result in accidental doubles or bump firing.

    Scope rail bedding 'WTF?'

Another option would be to use another compound for bedding that is actually bedding compound. Loctite 660 is exactly that and is designed for bedding loose or worn metal parts in rotating assemblies. It is also removable with the appropriate (albeit rare) solvent. I have used it with good success.

Night Vision Thermal Clip on with helmet capability

If you can stretch your budget a touch over $5k another option is a separate handheld spotter and dedicated thermal weapon sight. This avoid collimation issues and having to switch on the fly. If you aren't going to spend $$$ on a really high grade clip on, the standalone TWS generally will...

    Rebarrel Thoughts and Opinions

I think the issue there is the barrel diameter and the weird nut it necessitates. It looks like the barrel is a much larger diameter than the thread going into the action. This is different than most barrels that utilize a barrel nut, where the threaded tenon is the largest diameter of the...

    Primer Pocket Crimp Removal Tools

Whether or not this deformation is actually an issue depends on exact what happens to the primer pocket and case head with a cutter vs swage. The question I would ask about this is what case head deformation happened with the original crimping process? I don't have tools of adequate accuracy...

Need help setting up 300 Blk

In theory an adjustable gas block introduces an additional point of failure. A properly gassed 300 BLK shouldn't need one to run reliably with subs or supers... I have a 10.5" and 16" Noveske with pistol gas and they come with a pinned non adjust block. They run 100% with every combination from...

    Primer Pocket Crimp Removal Tools

Why don't you want to swage? The RCBS pocket swaging die works very well and is quite quick. As a byproduct it seems to work harden the case head which in theory should make primer pockets last longer. I have used the reamers but have experienced more variability in the pockets in the final...
