    Magpul 700 Pro Lite users

I don't have experience with the Pro Lite, but do have a Pro 700 chassis, which is the same chassis and grip but a different stock setup (and a fair amount heavier). People talk alot of crap about the Pro 700 chassis but I and my shooting partners have found the ergos to be just as good as...

    5.56 accuracy

Some of the JSE Surplus stuff were turned from Wilson blanks, which also used to be a good budget option... Fairly sure my favorite Nordic barrel used a Wilson blank. Some of these shot way better than their price point

    5.56 accuracy

Get a different barrel if it is consistently less accurate than what you seek despite trying multiple types of ammo. Some people get so wrapped up trying to get a turd to shoot, they spend as much money on ammo/components as the cost difference for a better barrel. A decent barrel doesn't...

Reliable AR10 style that's reliable for "plinking"?

I have 2 PSA PA-10's, one was a receiver set that I assembled with a Criterion barrel, other was a complete rifle. Both have been fine. They are an adequate platform for this. The complete rifle has been exceptional, but this was from a first run of them that PSA did with premium parts (NiB...

.22 creedmoor fad or just starting

I think it is going to be here awhile. I am putting one together. I specifically was looking for a fast/flat low recoil cartridge for shooting at night, and preferred a 22 caliber. The funny thing is that despite being the new kid on the block, brass is just as easy to find with better brand...

    308 AR10 Build Info/Picture Thread

While some may decry PSA, their large frame receivers are very serviceable as long as you keep an extra bolt catch or two on hand. This is coming from a guy who has used a bunch of receiver sets from old school DPMS to LMT to SR-25. Very functional basic build.

    Advice on thermal clip on

You lost us with "Iray" and "work with 10x magnification minimum..." How much demag does the unit have? It will have to be a premium unit with lots of demag to support more than 10-12x mag... The imaging quality provided in many reviews of units like this are deceptive

    16-18 inch shorty rifles

While much less exotic, figured this thread could use a classic. T3X Ranch Rifle. Currently has a Dead Air Primal on it, but will be getting a Griffin Sportsman UL to lighten it up even further. Scope is a Ten Mile 3-18 FFP which despite its length is actually quite lightweight.

To cut or not to cut...new Tikka T3X Lite

Oh and the easy button is just to get a Ranch Rifle or Roughtech in the length you want... They don't make them in stainless though...

To cut or not to cut...new Tikka T3X Lite

If the crown/threading work is good quality it is not likely accuracy will be affected. Instead of a custom muzzle device and small threads, a better approach is cut the barrel to wherever there is adequate thickness for a more robust and common muzzle thread (IE 9/16x24 or 5/8x24). Without...

    Subsonic hunting

The key to effective subsonic performance is frontal area. This can be obtained either from expansion of a very soft bullet, or larger caliber. Or even better a larger caliber AND expansion. Without hydrostatic shock, terminal effects rely on the making as large a hole as possible, very...

    The perplexity of ar10 loads

Very common. Would recommend lower charges or faster burning powder to reduce this, or use brass that you don't mind being destroyer after a few loadings.

Best method / compound to permanently attach rail to scope ring ?

JB Weld would work. Another solution in a similar vein would be Loctite 660 high strength loose fit bedding compound... Have used this to bed some scope rails. Then at least medium strength threadlocker for the screws Whether or not welding would work is dependent on the specific aluminum alloy...

    Current Production Tikka T1X .22

I have a 2024 20" one. No feeding issues. Ejection is fairly sluggish but OK unless the bolt is cycled really slowly. Accuracy is good (1" or slightly under for 10 shot 100 yd groups) with the first random lot of SK Rifle Match I fed through it. I am not disappointed from that aspect.

    Short 308 Diminishing returns

I recently picked up a T3x Ranch Rifle in 308 with a 16" threaded barrel. This would be my first choice from an accuracy and ability to upgrade standpoint. It is light and handy even with a suppressor. Even though it is a basic wood stock rifle, the barrel is a reasonable profile, the trigger...

Centurion .308 rail for DPMS pattern

I have used this rail. It works fine and is reasonably sturdy. Has a barrel nut which does not require indexing which is nice. I will say that I did have to get a replacement barrel from them, as the original was dimensionally incorrect and would not tighten down fully on the barrel extension...

    Night Vision New Voodoo-MX & Voodoo-R

This thing is pretty cool. The cost difference is the same as buying a MARS-LC in terms of having just a Voodoo MX versus a Voodoo ML/MARS. I looked at getting one but ended up with the separate WMLRF instead. At the time I also did not know it would include AB. That would have potentially...

What is the state of LMT MWS-H complete uppers these days?

I have a 16" MWS with the standard CL barrel in 308, and the quad rail upper. It is not a light rifle. I would keep the barrel 16" or less given your weight goals. A very handy rifle would be one of their 13.5" LW barrels and with some fast 150 gr loads, this would still work just fine. For...

Best clip on thermal for the money

I don't have one but looking at specs the UTM X with a 640 core is pretty similar to a last generation Voodoo S if you will... And the Voodoo S is the top of the heap for small, light weight clip ons that double as monoculars. I am fairly sure that despite its age that is still quite a good...

Best clip on thermal for the money

The best solution would be a Voodoo S, but they are $$$... It would provide the best collimation, combined with good clip on and monocular performance. A more inexpensive option would be a RH25. The problem is you have had a REAP-IR. If you are used to the excellent image quality of a BAE core...
