    300 Norma Mag

I settled on .336 with Peterson brass. My loaded ammo is .338 so the .336 gives me a couple thousandths of neck tension.

Size anneal or anneal size ?

+1 for anneal then size. Annealing then sizing will surely be more consistent since you are only sizing down a couple thousandths and not causing much work hardening. Sizing and then annealing would surely end with varying neck tensions and diameters and cause ES/SD issues. This would...

    1000 yard scope power

And giving shitty advice as well... Who the hell recommends a fixed 8x or 10x scope without parallax adjustment on a .300 WM?

    300 Norma Mag

It is worth re-mentioning that my virgin Norma-brand brass is only 2 thousandths shorter than my fire-formed Peterson brass. You would need to bump the shoulders back on brand new Norma brass to make it fit in Gnat's chamber.

World's Longest Shot 'Quit Your Bitchin' ELR match

About how much BC does the nose ring add? I'm interested in it on the 198 gr Flatline. How much additional cost will it entail?

Take the specs of the 230 SMK and head over to the Berger Twist Rate Calculator: http://www.bergerbullets.com/twist-rate-calculator/ . That can at least help answer your question but there are other factors to consider as well. You are correct however that you gain stability with velocity...

    300 Norma Mag

Steve, welcome to the .300NM club and we are pleased you are finding this thread useful. While the notice from Peterson is interesting, it does not relate to the discussion we were having about the headspace being too short on their initial run of .300 NM brass. Hopefully, they resolved that...

    300 Norma Mag

This is an issue with the first run of Peterson brass which is almost definitely what you have as Peterson has not released the second run of .300 NM brass as far as I know.

I would have done that too if I had figured out earlier what was going on. At the range, the extractor on my DTA wouldn't catch the rim of the brass because the ejectors were pushing the casehead so far into the chamber. The range went cold before I fired my last round and I was unable to...

    Stupid Reloading Question

Because I learned Common Core math in school? As Spife explained in detail, the neck thickness is .015" on both sides so they contribute .030" to the total diameter.

    Suppressors F.....me....end cap strike

I think you will be fine. The point of the suppressor is to contain and delay the gasses. By the time your projectile leaves the end of the suppressor the gasses should mostly be lagging behind. The gas that is there should be fairly low pressure and the minor nick on the end of your...

If there is one thing that Sniper's Hide does exceedingly well; it is help people figure out how to spend money. You came to the right place...

    Stupid Reloading Question

More than likely it is. You can measure the neck diameter of your loaded brass and then compare that to the neck diameter of your fired brass in order to find out how much your brass is getting worked. Let's say hypothetically you start with .308 brass which is prepped for seating bullets...

I'm not from USA. Just so you know.

Welcome. Luckily, there is no shortage of affordable rifles with good accuracy out there. Much more so than there were 20 years ago, anyways.

    Stupid Reloading Question

Annealing helps with keeping neck tension consistent (which affects SD and ES) and it also helps alleviate brass from getting split necks. If you have a match chamber, there is a good chance you will not get split necks as your necks won't have to expand much during firing and then have to be...

    The Creedmoor Coolaid

Better availability of brass from a variety of makers, better long-term availability of brass as I think the 6.5 CM will probably push the .260 to near-extinction in the long-term. Way better availability of factory loaded ammo in case you can't or don't reload or can't use your reloads. Far...

    The Creedmoor Coolaid

I have a 6.5x47 so I was ok, especially before Lapua started making 6.5 CM brass. Now I have my first 6.5 CM on order but haven't taken delivery yet. I think the 6.5mm/.260 sit at a bit of ideal nexus in the short action realm. They have better external ballistics than the .308 with less...

    300 Norma Mag

My primers (Federal 215 Magnum Match) are flattening extremely even though I am about 2 grains below 100% fill and even 100% fill isn't at max pressure for N570. I assumed it is either weak primers or possibly the fact that the casehead and primer have a 20 thousandths gap to expand into until...

I tried and tried to avoid this subforum! :-8

Reloading can be therapeutic. It can also lead to the need for therapy... I wouldn't say I enjoy reloading but I do enjoy the process of using my brain and skills to produce optimal ammo for my rifle with optimal results, velocities, and accuracy.
