Night Vision Odd Question About PVS 14 and "Temporary Artifacts"

You probably did do a little damage to the tube but as long as it isn't obvious, it isn't a huge deal. NVGs work similar to our eyes where if you shine a flashlight in your eyes while they are adjusted to darkness you will be seeing spots for a few minutes. NVGs do about the same but they have...

Member Link Up shooting at manatee gun range, Florida

Seems like 11/11 works for the three of us. Being a holiday weekend, it will probably be packed but so be it.

November 4th definitely won't work for me but November 11th probably will.

So I have a few rounds of .300 NM loaded as well as 100x .308 with 100x 7WSM nearly loaded. Anyone interested in meeting up in the near future? I'm pretty slammed this weekend but could probably meet up the weekend of October 27/28.

Who Still Loads on a Single Stage Press?

Co-ax for quality; Hornady Lock and Load for quantity.

    ELR bullet recovery

My random, unscientific guess is that possibly the high heat and pressure the projectile encounters during flight leads to the pitting; possibly due to oxidation. I recently watched a video on the X-15 ultrasonic aircraft which showed a model aircraft in a supersonic wind tunnel literally have...

    Ruger RPR 338LM

Get the 338 Lapua and rebarrel it to the 300 Norma Magnum. They use the same bolt face.

School me about 300 Norma Magnum

This would be an interesting experiment to perform as it would likely entail firing into a pond or lake at significant distance, then recovering the projectiles. Firing into water at close distance often damages the projectiles and would invalidate your results. Check out the Mythbusters...

What's the most stupid thing you've been told?

You must mean .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol). The .45 Colt aka .45 Long Colt was used in the old Colt Single Action Army revolvers, aka the Peacemakers. You don't happen to work behind the gun counter at Cabela's, do you?

Training Courses Training near Sarasota, FL

I'm up in Tampa and have worked with several people before. Manatee Range is conveniently right between us. Additionally, JTAC Ranch up in Brandon area once it us open will offer training.

    Corncob media damn

+1 for walnut shells. They rarely get stuck in the flashholes (maybe 2 or 3 out of 100 now that the pointy bits are worn off). The dryer sheets help with the dust and the stuff lasts a long time. Every time I consider doing the stainless steel thing, I remember that I don't want to dry...

Brand new "PVS-30" data plate on a worn, black scope with a PVS-26 power switch and PVS-26 battery cap: Pristine data plate with a worn PVS-26 power switch:

Night Vision Eurooptic has KAC PVS30 Army Buyback Grade A, $4700.

It is probably a real PVS-30 cover. I once tore a brand new cover on an issue unit while simply pulling the cover up to expose the objective lens. The soft plastic split where one of the two sidebars attach to the lens cover and that was that. It isn't a great design and the plastic is too...

    Look8ng at a progressive press .

For my first 9 years or so of reloading I used a 550B and it did well. It turned out some pretty good precision rifle ammo but it was a chore to do pistol and carbine ammo. I decided to get a Forster Co-ax single stage for precision ammo and planned to get a 650 for pistol and carbine. I...

.300 Norma with 20 inch barrel

Using suppressors on shorter barrels (especially with magnum calibers) definitely has an effect on the pressure the suppressor has to endure. TBAC specifically lists what length barrels and calibers their suppressors are rated to handle. Look in the bottom left under the "Application Notes"...

.300 Norma with 20 inch barrel

I should know better than to try understanding why people do the things they do, but in regards to the article and specifically the picture of TH with the .300NM rifle: If you are going to write an article about using an ELR caliber and talk about how important things like drop, kinetic energy...

    Night Vision McCann Industries MIRS

I'll try to take a look at it when I get home but none of our rifles were SA so it should be a LA.

    Night Vision McCann Industries MIRS

I have a MIRS at home that I was going to use but could part with instead. It is in decent shape but is definitely used. It was already off the rifle before I acquired it though so I couldn't tell you if it was off a M-24 or a Mk 13.

Rifle Scopes Tangent Theta Gen3 XR - details and images

In these reticle pictures the portion that is red will be illuminated and the black is not illuminated. So in this case the entire crosshair portion of the reticle is illuminated as well as all the mil dots in the tree. Which brings me to my two gripes about this reticle: 1. Why not...
