Rifle Scopes The Arken Optics Thread (merged)

I had the same problem with the ep5.

    Are AR-10s problematic?

Toolcraft is good to go. Save your money. If going with rifle length gas, I suggest starting with the Wilson combat extended ar10 rifle tube. It helps with sealing up the gas key. Some guys have trouble with under gassed and start drilling gas ports, a lot of times it’s the gas tube not sealing...

    Rifle Scopes $700 scope comparison

The older I get the more a forgiving eye box is important. Eye strain is where my fatigue happens and it shortens my range trips If it’s really bad.

    Rifle Scopes $700 scope comparison

Your thoughts mirror mine. I have/had all three and it’s Burris, meopta then the Athlon in order of performance. All three track spot on, I had a suspicion about my meopta early on but it ended up being bad Burris xtr ring inserts allowing it to slip. The turrets probably felt the best on the...

The rifle that surprised you.. what’s the one that was way better than you expected?

Thompson Center Venture 30-06. It shoots just as good as any of my trued remmy 700s with aftermarket barrels and with a way smoother action. Too bad it’s a lightweight barrel that’s discontinued with hardly any aftermarket support.

Bear Creek Arsenal AR10 Gen 1 upper

You have to learn to ignore the boys in the group. Most of the ones who talk shit are low testosterone boys, they were the ones when you were a kid that made fun of the poor kids that couldn’t afford air Jordan’s. Lol When they finally post a link to a youtube video or a pic with them in it...

    I’m stuck

I had a 7mag and a 300 win mag savage 110s. I couldn’t get them to shoot better than 1.5 moa, I sold the 300 win mag to a hunter that was completely happy with 1.5”. I kept the 7 mag for a little while and one day I decided to free recoil it at the bench, I used very little shoulder contact and...

    I’m stuck

Sell it and move on. Get something that feeds better in 300 prc. All those older 30 cal magnums are becoming novelties. I moved away from savage when I got the primary extraction fixed on my remmy 700s, couldn’t believe what I was settling for, even the old 700s are leaps and bounds better at...

    Rifle Scopes $700 scope comparison

I agree Dial the Athlon back to 24-25 power and it’s pretty nice

    Rifle Scopes $700 scope comparison

I had the 4.5-27 and the 5-30. I did not care for the reticle on the 4.5-27, I didn’t care for no wind holds inside the circle. I know it’s more of a cross over scope for hunting, so I sold it it and picked up the 5-30. I had several different scopes at the time and non of the compared to the...

Rifle Scopes Scope for Remington 700 Under $1000

Out of all the budget scopes I’ve had my hands on in the last ten years. That is several, close to twenty different brands and models, I never had one cut mirage at a the mile plate like the meopta 5-30x56. It has the best in class glass for sure.

    Building the Perfect Reloading Room

This was in its infancy, a lot more has been added especially in the gun maintenance side. It’s on the opposite side of the room to keep and copper solvent from contaminating my brass and copper. I isolated my scales on the far right of my safe so they wouldn’t receive any vibration from the...

    Rifle Scopes $700 scope comparison

If 700$ is your absolute limit and durability is your main concern. Then just get the xtr2 from euro optic. It doesn’t have the best glass but is bombproof. I’d put the glass in the pst gen 1 and bushy dmr2 range. If good glass is your concern then get the ares btr. If you can almost double your...

308 reload fits ar10's but not a Savage 308 bolt rifle

I would do two measurements if i was looking for the problem. Shoulder set back and the area just above the case rim. I would work to set the shoulder back .002”-003” and see if it chambers, if it still doesn’t want to, id assume it’s the web area being the problem. Color it with a sharpie and...

Rifle Scopes Scope for Remington 700 Under $1000

Don’t over look the strike eagle, I had the 5-25 and the new 3-18 both held their own in their respective price ranges. Vortex was off my radar for a little while until they stepped up and help a lot of people out that they didn’t necessarily have to. Now I’m probably going to pick ups few...

308 reload fits ar10's but not a Savage 308 bolt rifle

Does the savage shoot factory ammo just fine? If so, you’re wasting your time. He’s going to have to use a different lot of brass, because sizing it one single lot to use in both rifles is going to ruin his brass in just a few sizings. So anyway you look at it he’s going to be spending the...

I Need prefit barrel education 6.5cm

Personally I’d go with 22” heavy varmint. Anything longer is just too cumbersome. I’d be laying in bed at night trying to convince myself to go with 20” honestly. You can’t go wrong with a match chamber for a match gun. Heavy varmint is plenty of meat for a creed. 22” and shorter is plenty...

308 reload fits ar10's but not a Savage 308 bolt rifle

Should work. Most of the time, the ar chamber are on the larger side. When you fire brass in it it will expand the brass past the yield point, no matter how you size it it always seems to spring back to the size of the chamber. It’s usually at the web area. You can small base size it and the...

308 reload fits ar10's but not a Savage 308 bolt rifle

My guess is his problem is at the case web. Common issue really.

Is this the best deal on AR10 buffer kits now?

I was referring to the standard rifle buffer tube, early in this thread I thought you were referring to the A2/rifle buffer tube. But then I seen you clarified that you are using a carbine buffer. Lots of confusion early on. Lol
