    Savage's floating bolt head

Re: Savage's floating bolt head Also, it just seems to me that a chamber cut true to the centerline of the barrel is much more important, than the action being square and trued.

    Savage's floating bolt head

I'm still not fully understanding how this makes a difference. To my understanding the floating head allows both lugs to make contact on each shot, but if the bolt lug abatements are not perpendicular to the bore then is this really better than one lug making contact such as say a Remington...

Wrestleing sinks to a new low.

Re: Wrestleing sinks to a new low. Makes me think of an old "Little Rascals" or such show, where one guy is screaming "Hep me, Hep me, I be hipmotized!"

    Will a .308 1/12 twist rate shoot 150gr good!.

Re: Will a .308 1/12 twist rate shoot 150gr good!. I have a 1-12 twist Hart barrel on my 308 win, and it shoots Sierra 165's very well. But as sai above proof will be when you shoot some.

Gunsmithing Where to buy a bolt handle knob

I'm wanting something thinner than the Badger for my Rem 700, but still gives the same length, for a F/TR class rifle I am putting together.

F T/R Competition Good rings and bases for F/TR?

Re: Good rings and bases for F/TR? Well I ordered a EGW HD base, and a pr of TSR rings. I have a few other scopes I will use until I get the Sightron or perhaps a used Nightforce I am looking at. I am actually looking at a used Savage FTR rifle, scope, rings, base, bipod, on another sight...

F T/R Competition Good rings and bases for F/TR?

I'm putting together a Rem 700 in 308 Win for F/TR. I plan on getting a 20 MOA one piece base and some good rings. Does steel or aluminum make a big difference, other than weight? Are the extended bases needed for most scopes? I plan on getting a Sightron 8-32x56 in the future for this rifle...

    F T/R Competition Basic equpment

Re: Basic equpment I have a Rem 700 SA I'm using. I plan on getting a Sightron 24 or 32 power scope, but which bases and rings should I get?

Hunting & Fishing Cull Buck Mistake

Re: Cull Buck Mistake I've never hunted on ranch with a high fenced in area. I find it hard to be really proud of taking an animal under such conditions. I think this was staged from what I've read years back, it this is the same video I've seen before.

Gunsmithing Barrels who do you think is the best for 6.5

Re: Barrels who do you think is the best for 6.5 I've only gotten a handful of premium barrels. Mostly Shilen, Douglas, and Pac-nor, I have 2 Lothar Walthers, and one is chambered in .260. Shoots great and cleans up nicely.

My shilen barrel!! I am a little shocked!!

Re: My shilen barrel!! I am a little shocked!! I have 4 Shilens, with one being a CM. Two of the Stainless hvy barrels shoot fantastic and the other and the chrome moly barrel are on par with factory barrels. The CM barrel is actually chambered in 222 so that was a real disappointment. Luck...

Re: Early morning yote! Good shot. I would have never thought a 22LR would work at that distance.

Re: Crimp on heavy magnums I never crimp my rifle ammo, maybe I should try it on some test loads.

    Thompson Encore

Re: Thompson Encore I have an Encore which is presently setup for black powder. It is plenty accurate for where I hunt, which would be shots at generally 100 yards or less. I wouldn't worry much about shooting the factory barrels chambered in 243 out to 300 or so, but 600 yards on the...

Gunsmithing Base mount screws too long - how can I cut them?

Re: Base mount screws too long - how can I cut them? I usually use a file, or a bench grinder then a file.

    Remmy 700P .223

Re: Remmy 700P .223 A friend of mine had one too. His wouldn't shoot the heavy bullets either. We were trying the 69's and the 75 Amax's. My Rem would shoot the 75's but it has a 1-9 hvy Shilen barrel and is a 223Improved, so it is a different animal now.

    My Rifle Feels Heavy

Re: My Rifle Feels Heavy Man, I'm getting too old and fat to carry those heavyweights. I bitch about a 12-13lb rifle.
