    Hunting & Fishing Spring Turkey

Re: Spring Turkey We have those silly birds all over Missouri, it seems. I still like hunting them, even though I I'm not too good at calling them in.

    Hunting & Fishing Electronic Call

Re: Electronic Call I'd pick up a used Fox-Pro FX3 or comparable. More sounds than you will ever need, nice, light, and compact. I bought one about two years ago. I usually use rechargables but am switching back to regular batteries. The rechargeable are expensive and don't seem to haold a...

223 AI build on a Howa or Rem 700

I have both actions available for this build. I like the Rem because you can get anything for it, but the Vanguard/Howa action seems to feed the 223AI much easier and smoother IMO. I've been reading a lot about the 223AI and the 75 amax bullets. Seems to be a great little setup in an 8 twist...

Re: Kampfeld shooters here I think I am going to have him spiral flute my .260 barrel. It is around a 4-5 contour.

Hunting & Fishing Antelope/Mule Deer Caliber.

Re: Antelope/Mule Deer Caliber. The 243 is a wonderful little cartridge. Like said above, with the correct bullet and shot placement it will do the trick. I have taken a few whitetails with a 243 and they can be a bit larger than antelopes. The only cartridge I have ever used for antelopes is...

    Gunsmithing savage vlp stock

Re: savage vlp stock I personally like the factory BVSS or the low profile stocks. However, if you look at Stockade or sharpshooter supply they have some really nice stocks. Then there is McMillan. They are rather pricey but are top notch.

Where is all the stuff? Primers/Powder

Re: Where is all the stuff? Primers/Powder I am pretty well off, but that was only because I buy in bulk for the last few years. This is just crazy stupid now.

Solving a common accuracy problem on Remington 700

Re: Solving a common accuracy problem on Remington 700 I think your smith was bending you over or trying. I could see maybe 500-600 for a total rebarrel. I have had a few rifles setback and rechambered by my smith. He is really reasonable and quick. But it sounds like the new detachable mag...

    Case Trimmer Recommendations

Re: Case Trimmer Recommendations I like the wilson trimmer, but have used the lee trimmers for times when there are lots of brass to trim just for plinking.

NEW to relaoding..help for my 1st .223 reloads

Re: NEW to relaoding..help for my 1st .223 reloads I suggest reading the manuals and staying with the published load data, overall lengths, and such. Stick with one type of primer and one type of brass for now, whatever you can get with the shortage and all.

    Bullet Seating Trouble

Re: Bullet Seating Trouble I had a seating die that left a ring on the bullet. I ended up coating a bullet tip with release agent and then put a dab of JB weld on the seater stem to make a perfect mold of the bullet tip. Problem went away

Re: Best Bullet Weight For .223 I had a 1-8 twist Rock River AR that shot the Sierra 60gr HP's and the 69 gr'rs fantastically.

    Gunsmithing Lockig Lug grease alternative?

Re: Lockig Lug grease alternative? An old gunsmith told me to use STP oil treatment. A tiny dab on each lug will do you.
