The shims are often not the size that their color indicates. I screw on the break, subtract how many thousandths I need to get to just short of zero, measure the shims with a set of calipers, screw on, torque, and your done. If you have the right parts to start with it takes less than 5 minutes...
I had a Battle Comp on mine and switched it off for the SF break to use an SF can now and again. Honestly, I can't tell the difference in recoil reduction between the two but the BC is more comfortable for others to be around.
Pleases forgive my poor articulation. I did not mean to state that have shot the LMT out to 1K.
I shoot out to 1K quite often in the course of fire of the monthly matches out here but I have always used either a 20" 308 bolt gun or my 24" 6.5 Creedmoor bolt gun. I've only shot the LMT out to...
A buddy of mine used his new mag-chronometer on some of my rifles/loads to confirm its accuracy to known speeds. We then used it on my LMT MWS 18" SS.
175SMK, 1x fired FGMM brass, 43.0 Varget, Fed 210M primers. This gave us an average MV of 2522. Using the Litz calculations on the Shooter...
I ordered a .308 tOBR in 8/12 after spending some time behind some OBRs. I liked everything but the 20 MOA top rail and the original "Texas Ranger" rifle seemed like the best of both worlds. Now they've changed the rifle to this break down version, changed the trigger from the SSA, and lastly...
Also, for those interested:
The above load was 175SMK, 43.0 Varget, F210M in 1x Fired FGMM cases. This clocks at an average of 2522fps from the 18" SS barrel. (Max 2535, Min 2512, Ave 2522, ES 23, SD 9)
Compared to the nasty flyers I was getting before the groups have tightened up considerably. I'm hovering right around 1 MOA but I'm able to call my errors now that I'm using the A2. I fired the first three groups focusing on the points of the diamond. I then shot the 5 group target from left...
Last week I changed to an 18"SS barrel, A2 stock, and Slash's heavy buffer/spring combo. Now the rifle is very smooth and shooting sub MOA more consistently.
The SOPMOD stock is challenging when trying to use the LMT in a precision role. Changing to the A2 allowed me to identify shooter...
I've had a 7.62 18" on order since the beginning of 8/12. I didn't expect to see it for another year with the shipping/communication fiasco with LT over the tOBR's so I picked up an LMT MWS. Now that the tOBR's are finally shipping I can't wait to shoot the two side by side for a head-to-head...
Elfster/Roady,
Thanks for the feedback. I hope to have the heavy buffer/spring in the A2 and out to the range by the middle of next week. Until then, lots of dry firing...
I put on an 18" SS barrel and switched out the glass temporarily from my bolt gun to try a bit more than 10x. After trying several shooting styles and holds I believe I have identified what this rifle likes and does not. Generally speaking, the rifle needs to be held very firmly into the...
