Firearms Carbon Fiber Barrel RPR 6.5 CM-FINAL PRICE DROP

out of curiosity, what is the weight of it as it sits with scope and bipod?

Shooting competitions with a chassis vs stock

I would recommend using a grip with a thumb rest like the MPA. Then resting your thumb on the shelf gets it out of the way. On something like a Bravo, TRG, or McM A5, my thumb tends to rest higher more to the middle of the back of the grip rather than along the right side. I had trouble with...

    SAKO TRG-22

With what is on the market now, I wouldn't buy a TRG again. There are good 60deg actions that fit a Rem 700 footprint enabling the use of trigger and stock of your choice or multiple based on switching applications.

    SAKO TRG-22

I've had a TRG since 2013. It is currently on its 3rd barrel. I have it chambered in 6.5 Addiction now, it started out as 6.5x47 as part of a Eurooptic special deal that had barrels put on by APA. I had a lot of trouble feeding the 6.5x47, so I put a KRG AI conversion backbone in and AI mags...

    New guy from VA

From where you are I'd definitely check out front line defense and VPRC. You get off 95 and head west at Rocky Mount NC. Paul puts on enjoyable matches. He can put out some pretty small targets. When I lived in NC, I would drive up and RO. Andy Slade and Bryan Lewis put on the VRPC matches...

    New guy from VA

The matches generally fill up pretty quick. All the matches use practiscore to register. FB is really the only place to stay updated on the match information.

    New guy from VA

Look up vprc on Facebook for Va and surrounding matches (vprc holds matches at VIR but links to others), mason dixon precision rifle series (md and PA), pigg River precision rifle (va), and frontline defense (Nc). Peacemaker might end up having one club match this year so that’s another place to...

Rifle Scopes Schmidt & Bender Polar T96 scopes - thoughts/experiences??

I got one a few months ago. I got the 4-16x56 P4F. I compared it to my PMIIs and my wife's Premier Heritage. Of those, it had the longest low light performance. The polar was almost too bright during the day, so I added the sunshade I have to it, I will likely drill a hole in a butler creek...

    Craddock v. JP

The JP barrel is 223. I tried 70 VLDs, 73ELDs, and finally 77SMK. I did work up like I would for a precision gun. Satterlee method to find nodes and then work around nodes, with the gas turned as far off as I could get it, all the powder charges were weighed out. I used 4895 and Varget...

    Craddock v. JP

My AR has a JP barrel lightweight profile. My GAP10 has a Bartlein heavy. I will replace the JP with a Kreiger or Bartlein. I had lots of problems finding accurate loads from my rifle that has the JP, that rifle is a .9 MOA 5 shot gun. The GAP is .6.

    Sako TRG / TRG-S M995 Thread **Sticky??**

i have tried bags and monopods (not the Sako version). I prefer bags by a large margin. I think bags are actually more consistent and minimize the influence from the support hand. I shoot much better when I only touch the rear bag and am conscious not to touch the stock.

Hunting & Fishing Favorite caliber bullet combo for hunting

First choice 338 win mag with a 230 ELDX or 225 Accubond about 2850 (my recent choice) second choice 7RM with 160 accubonds at 2950 or so. (Most of my hunting) third choice 6.5x284/6.5PRC/6.5 Addiction/264wm, with elk on the list, I’d probably use a 140 accubond or a 130 swift s2 as an all...

    Best all around rear bag

I mostly use my udder bag. I try to only take one support bag and one pillow to a match, so whatever the support bag is I also run it as a rear bag for prone. I have the big one from Bison and the little one from Warhorse. I had a game changer, and did shooting comparisons. I end up with the...

On the fence about purchasing an AMP annealer

I have noticed more consistency in seating force since using the AMP. That said, I have had to adjust my bushings in one or two calibers that I load to get back the the right tension because the brass is easier to work. I was just at the range today and for my consistency/group practice shot...

6.5prc be 7mm rm. for a do it all?

For 1 hunting rifle I would look at 7RM, 300 WM, or 338WM, ammo selection and availability are the big factors. I hunted for a few years with a 7RM and then went to a 338WM when I went elk hunting in 2014. Since then I've been using the 338 for everything. A 230ELDX opens just fine on deer...

    6.5 Addiction (Swedemoor)

Be careful with the bolt faces. Some do need to be opened up. But I had heard the European actions (Sako/Tikka specifically) are less prone to needing the bolt face opened for the slightly larger 6.5x55 case head, so I used my TRG-22 and there has been no issue with the bolt face. I did try...

    6.5 Addiction (Swedemoor)

I agree with whidden for dies. I just got the hydro form die, so I need to prep and form my next set of brass. I didn’t want to lose 300 rounds of barrel life fireforming. I’m on my 2d PVA chambered barrel both have shot very well. these both were hawk hill blanks I sent. However, it might...

    Razor spotting scope opinions

Before I got my Vortex, I RO'ed at a few matches and got to use a bunch of different types incl Hensoldt and Swaro. I agree the vortex is not a Henny. However in the daylight the vortex is almost as good to my eye as the swaro. I've used it for hunting and could see through it as long as I...

"Hybrid" Rifle - Lightweight and Precision - Both or Neither?

My Sako TRG weighs in at 16.8 with a mag, bipod, and scope, so it's right outside of the hybrid range that DBros guessed at earlier. I've shot it in matches for several years. I wish I could put it on a 1-2# diet, but I won't change scopes, there aren't lighter stocks available that I know...
