LaRue MTB 2S vs Geissele SD-C

I have several G's, all SSA, SSA-E & G2S's; I also have several Larue's & several single stage triggers. Between the Larue & the G, SSA-E, right out of the box, the G is noticeably better in that it's lighter. But if you want to change the springs on the Larue, & maybe stone the sear & hammer...

Precision AR -15 10 shot moa groups

Before you do anything else, I'd suggest getting some Sierra 69 & 77 gr. SMK bullet as they are a know commodity so far as generally being accurate bullets. And the concentrate on the trigger control shooting from bags. If all that fails, then you're into new parts/assembly technique. YMMV MM

    73gr ELD M and CFE 223

CFE-223 is a piss poor sub for 8208. While the CFE is OK for general loads, I have not gotten best accuracy, compared to several other more favorite powders, with several different bullets. MM

    Most rigid handguard/upper

Well, I don't know who's AGB you're trying to fit under those rails, but SLR's (& plenty of other) AGB's will fir under those rails all day long...................I have several SLR rails with no issues at all & well as Geiselle rails, which are even smaller, again with no issue. As for stiff...

    gas block roll pin

Use a punch to align the tube & the gas block holes, & use a piece of masking tape to hold them together. Place the gas block into a small v-block & use a roll pin starter punch to get the pin started. Finish with a standard punch, pliers or vise as you prefer. The taping of the tube & GB does...

Wilson combat vs White Oak Armory

I have 3 WOA barrels, all 18" SPR version, & all shoot very well, 10 shots right at MOA or slightly less, clean well & are not finicky. I have 2 WC barrels, both 16", one is a lightweight @27 oz, the other is a very lightweight at 21 oz. Both shoot 5 shots easily into MOA & are far better than...

What AR15 cartridge is a worthwhile step up from 5.56?

I'm invested in the 5.56 in the AR platform, for for all practical needs, at reasonable sane ranges, MK-262 is sufficient. But if I wanted to step up performance, in spite of some of the issues, I'd go with the 224 Valk slinging 88's as that is a substantial step up from the 77's at 2750'ish...

Headspacing on 2 different AR barrels: need some input:

Actually, I wouldn't want it either, because I really don't want new factory brass to stretch that much either. But BC says he doesn't shoot factory ammo so it's his call. A local smith would have to do LOTS of AR barrels before I'd use one. Besides just the actual chambering, getting good...

Headspacing on 2 different AR barrels: need some input:

Sounded like CLE set the HS to zero. Not wrong for a precision gun, but tighter than you would normally get from separately bought components. And your smith fitted the other one to a dimension near max. Worst combo you could have gotten.........one long, one short. Who'd a thunk it? LOL MM

Headspacing on 2 different AR barrels: need some input:

Next time you order a barrel from a custom source, just send the bolt you plan to use & tell them how much HS above zero that you want. Or buy a bolt from them. Most commercially produced barrel/extensions/chambers & bolts will end up at +.002-.004" HS when assembled together. You have 2...

Headspacing on 2 different AR barrels: need some input:

Leave the CLE barrel alone; you are at minimum HS...................not exactly ideal in a semi-auto, but most factory ammo is below that number & if you get some a thou or 2 over that, it will crush fit. Since you are now only 2.5 thou different, so size to the larger chamber plus .001" & you...

Headspacing on 2 different AR barrels: need some input:

Well, maybe, maybe not. The dimensions for HS on SAAMI 223 & NATO 5.56 are significantly different & it depends on what his reamer was. (See chart below & linked article) But in either case, his reamer could be right, but he ran it in a tad too far if it was a 223. But with regards to the...

Eject! Eject! Eject! Is anything other than 3:00-4:00 OK?

Maybe I missed it but what length gas system are you using? Also, gas port size in the barrel? I've set up lots of low mass systems on everything except carbine gas, with no real issue, so I'm thinking something is not quite right & sometimes you need to do some things differently with LMOS...

    Ridgeline Defense RD-15 LPR

HG not being on the barrel nut is a really nice to have, but surely not a deal maker or a deal maker, IMO. Plenty of guns shoot just great with the HG on the nut. The total package is really what matters. Not being able to more or less easily disassemble the gun & doing so voiding the warranty...

    Ridgeline Defense RD-15 LPR

Nice, very niche gun........looks well put together. But not for everyone for sure, especially at that price point. I really see no need for the GB system being used, as the deficiency of either the set screw or clamp version just doesn't justify the cost or the possible benefit. Also, 1 MOA...

Ballistics Advantage barrels question... warranty issue approaching epic fail

Making a conscious decision to use BA barrels is akin to playing Russian roulette; sometimes you win, sometimes you lose at about a 50% rate. They don't make a premium barrel in the typical sense that most have a vision of here as coming from people like WOA, Criterion, what was CLE...

Bolt Carrier Group impact on accuracy?

Take a look at Cross Machine Tool. I really liked the SanTan stuff, good to know the info you posted too as I haven't used any of their stuff for the last 3 years, mainly because of availability. MM

    Rock Creek Barrels

That's possible & things change. I don't have any RTR barrels. My RC barrels are before he introduced the RTR Series. But let's be clear, Craddock is buying rifled blanks & finishing them. But if they are wanting, then that's on Craddock to know that & address it. He's gotten a LOT bigger...

    Rock Creek Barrels

I've seen more than a few factory Rem 700 barrels that looked like the rifling was cut with a chainsaw, but they shot lights out, didn't clean so easily thought. Beauty is great for sure, but that doesn't always reflect or guarantee accuracy. The problem with borescopes is that too many people...

    Rock Creek Barrels

Ok. As you said........hand lapped. Looks fine as expected. So what? You can also get a Criterion from Craddock at a premium over an RC button. So what's your point? Other than wanting to be a Dick with a hard on for Craddock. MM
