    Rock Creek Barrels

4 months from this post & RC barrels are pretty prominently referred to there now. Prior to the introduction of the RTR series, RC was never referred to as prominently as Bartlien & Criterion, but he always seemed to have them available, IME. MM

    Rock Creek Barrels

I've had that discussion with Paul Craddock a couple of times. He agrees with your statement regarding accuracy & says that the accuracy life will be shorter though. I've borescoped the RC button barrels that I have & they look fine to my eyes Don't foul & shoot fine. Hard to ask for more. MM

    Bolt carrier for precision AR-15

That's interesting about the bore ID for the gas rings. I have a couple of the JP LMOS carriers but I changed the 1 PC rings with a standard 3 PC on the JP bolt...........never even attempted to use the 1 PC. Just didn't like the way the 1 PC felt. No problems with the 2 I have. Both were...

    Bolt carrier for precision AR-15

Yes, I misunderstood that you were only referring to the carriers..........but the JP is not quite double the cost for the Geiselle, but close enough. And yes, I know full well that none of the carriers from JP are DLC. Nonetheless, they are still, very, very slick. For a carrier of the...

BCM MK2 BFH Govt Profile Accuracy? Also looking Centurion LW

Mostly what was said immediately above. BCM's chrome lined barrels are good durable, reasonable accurate barrels but are surely not precision by anybody imagination, nor do they really pretend to be. Neither are their SS barrels known to be top tier for accuracy. And that MK2 upper is not...

    Bolt carrier for precision AR-15

More or less where I've ended up with Young Mfg. as well, though I never had dealer status. Too bad they've changed business practices. I've used a couple of their version of the HMB bolt design, but they've not been run anywhere near enough to say if they last longer than a standard design...

    Bolt carrier for precision AR-15

Not sure where you're getting that the small frame JP carrier & bolt are double the price of the Geiselle, but JP's website lists is as #375 vs Geiselle at $325. JP FMOS Small Frame BCG And while all Geiselle's stuff is always good, their "nano" coating is CrN which is a PVD applied coating...

Geissele MK8 Rail vs KAC URX ?

Yeah, Trey whispered in my ear once upon a time. MM

    Craddock RTR

Those are Rock Creek button rifled barrels, & I have 2 of them that I got (2-3 years ago) from him before he started calling them RTR's. I have an 18" & a 16" made to the contours I requested. Both shoot very, very well, don't foul much at all & inspecting them with a borescope, the 2 I have...

Geissele MK8 Rail vs KAC URX ?

I have a KAC URX 3.1, a newer M-LOK & a Keymod version, but overall I like the Geiselle rails better. But the URX is very strong, & unsurpassed for attachment strength to the upper receiver. The MK-8 is too fat for my preference, but I've used several of the MK-14's & I like them a...

    Crane MilSpec Gas Port Size

That sounds more correct than something <.100", as what I've been told by other sources is that it's .105" Thanks. MM

    Does it make sense...

Leave them alone. You have 2 nice rifles instead of one with a bunch of extra parts. MM

    Ar's that won't function

In gun #1, you have a GREEN spring with is 2 steps stiffer than standard which is WHITE. YELLOW is one step down from standard. In all the rifle gas guns that I have built, I have never used anything but WHITE or YELLOW with a 3 or a 4 oz buffer; the only time I have ever gone stiffer is to go...

Tuning a gas gun/false pressure signs

If you purely want to evaluate pressure (as best you can from signs on the case & primer) shut off the gas entirely, make the gun a single shot & evaluate the brass & primer accordingly. Things like swipes are a function of the rest of the equation..............timing, buffer & BCG weight, gas...

Oversized Barrel Extension Preventing Installation Of Barrel on Thermo Fitted Upper Receiver

Easiest route, & you can still heat the upper if needed, which you probably will. I use a torch, as demonstrated in various videos, & don't be afraid to get it hot. 150 degrees is not enough; freezing the barrel may help but is not usually needed. MM

Custom AR Builders – Precision VS Combat

The builders you cited are solid, but not particularly precision oriented. As already mentioned, buy a JP or get an upper from Compass Lake, WOA or Craddock Precision to put on a lower that you build with a precision trigger, top shelf BCG & a precision oriented stock design. For what you get...
