Input on future rifle.. Christensen TFM or SAKO TRG 22A1

Not to pick a fight, and yes the Tikka is smooth but not compared to a TRG... Probably due to the Sako being a three lug with them having support through the whole throw.

Input on future rifle.. Christensen TFM or SAKO TRG 22A1

If you want the Sako, buy the Sako. If you just want to spend money you'll get a decent custom for the same amount.

Need help with medium length action build. 284/swede/260

6.5x55 is a no problem cartridge if you keep your loads moderate. By that I mean that if you're planning on staying this side of 650 yds, you can use the "reduced" Norma loads for 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser and still have very good results. Yes, you will have to dial for drop and drift, but with the...

    "Best" "AR-10" for precision?

Correct. Minimum barrel length requirement for a hunting rifle. Interesting, but hard to come by where I'm at. The wheight isn't a big factor, I'm just not interested in a PRS style 25 lbs rig for a hunting rifle. Thank you all. A DD seems not to be the wrong choice based on your replies.

    "Best" "AR-10" for precision?

Haenel CR308 does look like a viable option. Will look into it. Thank you. Noted. Thank you. I do appreciate your comments, and if need to reach out further than the intended 650 or so yds, I've got bolt guns enough for 1k and further. And I get it. Not everyone want to spend as much as I do...

    "Best" "AR-10" for precision?

Totally newb at semi auto rifles and I'm sorry if this has been asked before. Due to legislative changes (not US resident) it seems semi auto rifles might be available on a hunters licence and that has started me entertaining a thought of getting one. It requires though that the barrell is at...

    Sako TRG 22 rebarrel

It will probably not headspace correctly so you'll need custom work anyway...

    Sako TRG22 .308

Why? I've never had any trouble with mine (plural). Yes, but then again they are not 22/42's but an aluminium chassis construction that does not withstand the correct torque for the screw used. I've seen, too many times, people not cleaning out the old Loctite and the applying more. Resulting...

    Sako TRG22 .308

Yes it would. Blue Loctite and the like should never be used on a rifle unless you intend to disassemble it in a near future. For a couple of reasons, but mainly because it can provide a false positive (the screw feels tight but doesn't provide enough clamping force).

    Damn. That looks awesome!

    Sako TRG22 .308

Heat? No. A 4 mm hex bit/key should be enough.

    Sako TRG22 .308

Welcome! 👍 As stated, M18x1. Browse around first, before buying any parts. Do you need a 30 MOA rail? Or would a Spuhr be a better choice? Or a new scope with the adjustability? Front end ARCA kind of suggests a chassis? Check out KRG and others. I know, you said you do not want a KRG, but an...

    Thoughts on my cartridge selection?

Oppinion: Once you are passed 6,5x55AI in powder capacity you are approaching point of diminishing return fast. 30-06 is a versatile cartridge. But if you don't need energy on target, 6 mm/.243 bullets are probably enough and have "better" BC and less recoil. 30-06 brass can be used for...

    Thoughts on my cartridge selection?

Long barrel for the 280AI. 26" is probably enough (same for a 6.5x55 AI). Profile as heavy as is practical for you. Kriegers "Remington varmint" is heavy enough, but go heavier if you like.

    Thoughts on my cartridge selection?

Base cartridge 6.5x55 Swede Bob Jourdan Ackley Improved 40 degrees. Ackley never did the 6.5x55 so Robert Jourdan did. No worries mate.

    Sako TRG22A1 6.5CM

There might or might not be a TRG 22/42 M08 per se, other than minor differences. Any big change occurred 2013 (new trigger and butpad). The 21/41, 22/42 and 22/42 A1 are basically the same rifles (disregarding the stock). There is no TRG-22 A1 M10. There is a TRG-22 A1, which is a TRG-22...

    Sako TRG 22 rebarrel

Krieger Remington Varmint profile is pretty darn close. Get a 1 in 10 twist and make it 22-26", the 4" doesn't matter much on a 308. 155 or 175. The 168-ish is kind of slow or too light (though this is really being picky). Get something, shoot it and report back.

    Sako TRG-22 feeding problems

IIRC: Push the follower down in the back. It will then angle so that you can grip it with fingers/pliers. Then pull the follower forward and out of the hole. As soon as the follower clears the feeding lips, you can pull it straight up.

    Part fabrication for TRG 22

I'm not familiar with the abbreviation 'ETA' other than "Estimated Time of Arrival"? And you are right, at least for a 'gen 3'. (I've done too many TRG stock swaps...).
