    I called them this morning. I may go that direction mainly because the ID is sized about right. Not too big, I don’t plan to nest a suppressor, and not too small, I can still use an adjustable clamp gas block.

    I built a large frame AR on the M5 enhanced and I was happy with it. The only 2 things I don’t love are the large ID handguards and there is a little slop between receivers. Hard to beat the value of the enhanced uppers though.

    Standard frame AR-15. I don’t think zev makes the MATEN anymore with the integrated nut.

    Thanks, @Holliday. I ended up going with a CAL. After reading everyone’s reviews I noticed that very few people were unhappy with the CAL. They were a good amount of recommendations saying the MDT was “the best” but not compared to the what you get for your money.

    Thanks for the insight. I may just give swaging a try given all the feedback here. All of the “uniformers” above advertise they can be used for removing military crimp so I figured they were worth considering.

    Anyone out there running a B-14R steel barrel in .17 HMR? How is the performance/accuracy? I want something a more lethal and flatter than a .22 LR for close range varmints. I like the R700 compatibility.
