    Tikka T3X TAC A1

I have found no need so far. Yeah, its plastic, but it is curved enough so it is comfortable enough for my cheek shooting as long as I have ammo on any particular day. My opinion may change if I ever take it out in freezing weather though.... I live in Socal so that may never be a problem.

Lefty prone shooters - RH/LH bolt?

My 2 cents... I have been shooting RH bolts since I was 12 (I am 52 now). I am left eye dominant, but right handed. Always shot rifles left handed/left eye and pistols right handed/right eye - go figure. I just recently bought my first real LH rifle (Tikka TAC A1). While prone, on a...

Why do people seem down on Savage rifles?

Some people feel the experience of driving an Escalade to be worth the price premium over a Chevy Tahoe. They both have the same basic chassis, do the same thing, etc. One is a heck of a lot more luxurious than the other. Worth it ? Everyone has to make the best decision for themselves. I...

Why do people seem down on Savage rifles?

I shot my new Tikka T3 Tac for the first time last Friday. It was every bit as good of a shooting experience as I hoped. Bolt slides like glass, no lift issues, same accuracy with a random box of factory match 175gr 308 as with my hand loads in my Savages. I noticed the trigger was heavier...

    Match 308 Ammo

^^^ agree. My McGowan 1/10 loves the Prime.

Why do people seem down on Savage rifles?

I thought the same thing - what could be so wrong with them? i have been shooting 3 different models for several years. 2 shoot fantastic, one not so hot. Luck of the draw with any manufacturer I suppose. The real issue is in my book is the bolt, feeding, extracting. Just plinking with...

Say what you want about Savages...but here's mine

Nice. Getting real world .5xx from an off the shelf gun... I have a Savage in .223 that shoots close to .5xx with a factory tube as well.

New guy here, Savage 10 .308

Man, I wish mine shot like that! You won the factory barrel lottery - congrats! Nice shooting as well.

What would you do in this situation?

^^^^ First class 'ownership' of issues right there. Honest, accountable, apologized, refunded money, promised to do better in the future. Good show, bohem. ( I have done some big office moves before - things ALWAYS go wrong outside your control.)

    308 Ammo... I know I know

FWIW, I have found the most consistent factory round for my rifle (24" barrel) is the Fiocchi Exacta Match 308 Winchester 175SMK.

    tikka t3x accuracy

"just don't want to be playing russian roulette hoping to get an accurate one." ^^^^ If you buy factory regardless of reputation, you are to a degree. If you want zero risk, you already know what to do, and how much it will cost. Tikka might be very low risk given the other choices. I am a...

6.5 creedmoor vs. .308 win for beginners

^^^ exactly. I have a metric sh!t ton of .308 bullets and powders. When that runs out, I plan to switch to 6.5.

    Tikka T3X TAC A1

Luck for the lefties, just in time!! I heard the same thing and ordered one last month. I checked on dates from my vendor, and he says May as well. Can't wait...

    Still in love with Criterion

dang... only if I could get a group like that out of my .308.... Hodo, just curious what bullet that is? i was looking at Criterion as my next barrel...

223 Hornady 75gr ELD Match: better than 175 SMK 308?!

I kinda like my cheap .223 bolt. Cheap, easy to load for, sometimes all I can get to is a short distance range, so bullet choices are many that work in a factory barrel (which is plenty accurate - I guess I got lucky).

    What kind of Savage?

I love my 12FV in .223. With handholds, it shoots right around .6 avg with the factory barrel with 69gr pills, and right under .5 with 52gr Bergers. The only thing I did right away was put a B&C Varmint stock on it. The 'stock' stock did not feel comfortable to me.

    Left Handed Tikka Tac A1

Just put a deposit down on one. Can't wait to shoot it. Now to decide what I have to sell to help offset the cost - I think it will be worth the hassle from all that I read so far about these rifles. (I just hate selling things....)

    Left Handed Tikka Tac A1

Amen... i have been praying this option would come out. Very happy lefty here... Now 6.5 or 308? I am up to my eyeballs in 308 components, nothing for 6.5 ..... Real first world decisions/problems ;)

    Tikka T3X TAC A1

Yeah, I have tried shooting righty. It's just verrrrry unnatural feeling and awkward. I have been shooting left handed/eye for the last 41 years, theres a boat load of muscle memory wired into my brain. If I was 20 years younger, It would probably be easier to switch.

    Tikka T3X TAC A1

Question to anyone who has one of these in hand - can the cheek riser assembly be reversed by simply backing out the screws flipping the plastic piece, and tighten back up? I like the Tikka action and the options on this model, but I am left handed. Seems like it would work nicely for me if...
