    Gunsmithing Lathe advice!

I just took delivery of my 1340gt a couple weeks ago and love it so far. Very short spindle so short barrels will be doable no problem. Chambered my first bar on it yesterday and although it didn't go much different than my 12x36 Chinese machine, it was just different. Threads came out amazing...

    Kestrel question

I get the "buy once, cry once" theory and no argument there. I'm just trying to determine what I need and possibly don't need. When you say Bluetooth matters when seconds count so you don't have to input anything, what do you mean? I thought the point of the kestrel was to have the atmospheric...

    Kestrel question

So I'm trying. To make sense of how all this kestrel stuff works. I'm sure it's simple for those that have one, but I feel a little lost. Im looking at the sportsman 5700, not the elite. Is that all I would need to give ballistic solutions? Or do I have to have my phone with it to use AB...

Gunsmithing Recommendation for a Drill Press

Not to mention that the drill chicks don't hold an end mill very well at all. I wouldn't even bother. Look for a small mill, you'll be much happier with that as a drill press than the other way around.

Gunsmithing Open up 223 bolt face?

For the money, i'd buy a new bolt and then have the option to shoot either. Make a switch barrel setup.

    Dealer Delays

I bet it's the same one I'm waiting on, communication hasn't been the best but not necessarily awful. I think my delay has to do with factory supply issues among other things.

    16-18 inch build questions.

I don't have any experience with the saum, but I am a fan of short barrels. I say go for it, experiment with powders and I bet you'll see an appreciable gain once you find the right powder.

    Short barreled coyote rifle

I just built my ideal coyote gun last year and it ended up being exactly what I wanted. 18" 22-250 shooting 65gr game kings at 3440-3450 and I love it.

Four dudes, two bolt guns and a drone.

Sweet video. I just moved to Vegas a couple months ago. Looks like a cool place to shoot. I've just driven out into the middle of no where to shoot but don't really have a great place. Would love to go shoot with with someone else if you ever need more company.

    Gunsmithing Lathe advice!

I played the old used lathe game for several years and finally gave up and bought a new Chinese lathe. Specifically a precision Matthews 1236. I'm sure there are nice used lathes out there to be had, but I went through 3 and gave up but I never lived in or near a machine rich part of the...

    Remington 700 in .300 WM

And you are going to replace the stock anyways, why don't you just buy an action for $400 and spin on a pre-fit barrel. Prolly be cheaper in the long run and likely shoot better.

    Gunsmithing Determining freebore

What bullet are you wanting to shoot? I found dimensions on the Berger 195 I'm shooting in my 28 nosler I'm building. I used that along with case dimensions to figure out how much freebore I wanted. It is just a bunch of simple math, enough to make it seem kinda complicated to me.

Short action 6.5 or 7 SAUM

I'd go 7mm but I'm a fan of 7mm bullets in general. Even if you can't fit the 180's, the 168's still have a better bc than the 140's from a 6.5 and you could prolly get amazing velocity from the 168's to get incomparable drop and windage values.

Proof carbon barrel for 28 nosler??

I just ordered a 26" 8 twist sendero profile. Dale at Evolved Ballistics was super nice and helpful, if anyone is in the market for a proof barrel, I'd highly recommend giving them a call.

Proof carbon barrel for 28 nosler??

If I go with a 26" sendero, weight chart says about 3-1/2 lbs. if I went with bartlein med palma (I know not the same contour but what I would use), it says about 5-1/4lbs but that is 30", so say 5 lbs or just under. Maybe not a huge weight savings, but I see about a pound there give or take...

Proof carbon barrel for 28 nosler??

building a 28 nosler on a bighorn tl3 (finally done!!), and was about to order a bartlein barrel when I had a last minute thought. Since I'm using the heavy gen 2 razor, maybe I could save some weight with a proof barrel. I have read people not liking them but recently have been seeing...
